Researching: ROSTOCHIL, ROZTOCIL
I’m looking for the family of Rostochil, Roztocil, or a variation of those spellings.
I know that my ancestor, Jan (John) Roztocil came to the U.S. from Bohemia in 1867 or so and settled in the Chicago area. At some point, he changed our surname to Rostochil, but I believe that we may be related to Roztocils in Oklahoma, Iowa, Ohio, and maybe other places. I’d like to find information about who came to the U.S. with Jan (maybe had a brother named Anton?) and any other information you may have about the family.

Researching: GINDRA, HRDLICKA, JINDRA, JANZER, HREBEC
I am looking for family in what was Bohemia. My great great grandfather was born in Svihov about 1831, named Joseph Gindra. Svihov is near Pilsen. He married a woman named Dorothea Hrdlicka, who was probably born near there also. They lived in Maryville, Illinois in 1860 and St. Louis, MO. in 1880. The family were shoemakers and had a place of business for several years in a couple locations in St. Louis under the name Gindra Bros. Shoes. They may have spelled their name Jindra before coming here. Their eldest son, John, born Feb. 14, 1860 married a lady named Caroline Janzer, daughter of Vaclav and Anna Janzer, also from Bohemia. Another name that surfaces often is Hrebec. Any light that you can shed would be appreciated.
