Researching: BOHAC, HEJNY or HEJNA, HVALACEK, PESTA, KOS
The above surnames are from Miltschitz (or Miltschtze?), Bohemia.
Searching for Bohemian ancestors of Wenceslaus Bohac (born in Bohemia
8-15-1854 to James and Mary Bohac) and wife Marie Hejney (born in Bohemia
1-1-1858). Bohac/Hejny were married 9-27-1880 in the area of Miltschitz (or
Miltschtze?) or Tabor, Bohemia. Their honeymoon was their journey to the USA
with John Pesta and wife Barbara Kos (born 1859). Barbara's mother was
Barbara Hejna Kos (born 1832). We believe that Marie Hejny and Barbara Kos
were cousins. Wenceslaus and Marie settled in New Prague, MN; they moved to
Iona Township in Todd County, MN, in 1908. They lived the remainder of their
lives in that area. Also searching for ancestors/information about Katie Hvalacek, cousin to
Wenceslaus. We know nothing of Katie's origin. She lived for many years with
Wenceslaus and Marie and died in their home. She spoke almost no English.
Hvalacek is her married name. She had two daughters that we know of: Agnes
(have no information about her) and May Ann (born 1881, married Elmer
Polzine, and lived in Alexandria, MN; died 1950).

Researching: NOVOTNY, CHVALA, FUCHS, SAUR
Looking for relatives in Czech Republic with the name Novotny, Chvala, Fuchs and Saur.
While I was born and raised in the U.S., for as far back as I can remember I was interested
in my Czech (Bohemian) ancestors.
All four of my grandparents were born and grew up in what was then the Bohemia province of
the former Austro-Hungarian Empire. My father was also born in Bohemia but was brought to
the U.S. as a child with his parents.
I am in contact with families on my mother's side and one family on my father's side.
But I would like to establish contact with relatives on my father's father's side of the family.
The names of my grandparents are: Antonin and Anna (Chvalova) Novotny and Josef and Anna
(Saurova) Fuchs. Antonin Novotny was born circa 1865 in Zasmucky; I'm not sure where his
wife was born but I believe her birth year was 1868. Josef Fuchs was born 1870 in the
vicinity of Vsehrdy; his wife was born in 1872 in Vsehrdy. My father, Rudolf Novotny,
was born in Kourim March 25, 1900.
I've made some attempts to find relatives in the Czech Republic on my father's father's side,
but so far it appears there are none with the name Novotny, which would be a pity.
Regarding my maternal grandparents, what I was told was that a German traveling salesman
visited what is now the Czech Republic in the 1840s to 1850s, met and fell in love with a
Czech girl, married her and introduced into the relationship the German name Fuchs.
Your research may confirm or deny.
Any assistance you might provide would be greatly appreciated. I decided to move to the
Czech Republic in January 1997 (the best decision I ever made in my life). Since October 1997
I have been working at the Czech Academy of Sciences as English language editor.
