Adams. I'm doing research on the name Fanderlik. I n 1995 my husband, younger son
Andy and I traveled to Brno, Czech Republic .We learned there are several
streets named for my family. We also learned that the building that Felix
Fanderlik my great grandfather designed and built is still being used, this
time for some kind of school.. We were touched by the openness and
friendliness of the people. We look forward to visiting Czech Republic
again. Josef Fanderlik, born about 1839 in Olomouc, died 1895 in Uherske Hradiste.
Studied at the academy in Olomouc, later he studied law in Vienna. Became
Doctor of Law in Vienna in 1867 and settled eventually as a

Olomouc at the Academy, later at the Polotechnic university in Brno, and
became an Architect. He built several houses in Brno in a kind of
renaissance style, fashionable in 1880's. Some of them are still standing
and one of them was housing the British consulate for several years. I'm
told around 1880 Felix Fanderlik(1840-1910) lived in Liberec,
Reichenberg, where he was Professor of Art of the Technical School,

Researching: VANCURA, VAN CURA, MUDRA
I'm just starting my research on my paternal grandparents. They came to
America (port unknown) in about 1880 and settled in Tate, Nebraska (Pawnee
County) I found, but have misplaced a rather official looking document wherein
he renounced his citizenship or allegiance to the Austo-hungarian empire. His
first name was Karel and the name was originally spelled as one word with a
hachek (sp?) over the c, making the ch sound. I was told by my father that
that was why he changed it to 2 words. I am told that he was a master cabinet
maker and owned "Tate Lumber" in Nebraska. He and his wife, Anna (nee Mudra)
moved to the Chicago, IL area just after 1900, finally settling in Berwyn, IL.
He died in 1944. I know this is not much, but would appreciate any assistance
at all. Thank you.
