Researching: SANGL, CORSHENKRA
Thomas Joseph Sangl married Anna Rosa Corshenkra ("Goshinski," "Slinkie"). He was born in 1842 ostensibly in "Nimitz" or a village in the Pilsen area. Thomas worked for the Czar keeping his sheep but left for Jackson County, Minnesota in October 1880 with their oldest son Anton (b. 1865) to avoid Anton's conscription into the army. Anna Rosa followed in 1881 with their other children: Eva Rosella (b. 1864), John Jacob (1868), Thomas Franklin (1870) Joseph Martin (1872), Mary (1874), Martin (1876), Anna (1879), and Margarella (1880). Thomas or Anna Rosa are reported to be only children. Seek more information to identify their village and ancestry.

Researching: CAP
Searching for relatives or information regarding Richard C Cap who came from Prague, Bohemia around 1900 to the United States -- settled in Kalispell, Montana. Later brought over his mother Marie Cap (59, widow in 1911, living at Karloso....32, Prague) and his brother Karl Cap (19, technician). Marie supposedly left her daughter Losegg [?] Cap in Prague. Cap family in Prague were apparently related to an artist, Alexander Cap, who was living in Munich, Germany, and came to the USA in 1908 to visit his cousin, Richard C Cap, in Kalispell, Montana. Alexander's father was known as "Commercienrat Cap" which is the anglicized version of "Kommerzientrat" which translates as Councillor of Commerce -- an actual title conferred on distinguished financiers. Alexander Cap kept a journal of his trip to the USA, with a full set of artists drawings, which our family has inherited. Any information regarding the CAP family of Prague (or Munich, Germany) would be greatly appreciated.

Researching: SIMON, DUSEK, HANZLICEK, SHALISKY, MATJACEK, KAPLAN
Searching for information on the Simon surname. My Simon ancestors came from Dolni Dobrouc, Bohemia. A John Simon married a woman named Dusek in Dolni Dobrouc. Their chldren were John, Alois and Antonia. Alois Simon was born in 1835 and married Frances Hanzlicek in 1857. Frances was born in Dolni Dobrouc in 1838. Her father was Frank Hanzlicek and her mother's maiden name was Skalisky. Alois and Frances (Hanzlicek) Simon came to America in 1866 and settled in southern Minnesota, Summit and Sommerset Townships, south of Owatonna. They had nine children: Alois, Frank, Frances, and Anton (all born in Bohemia); and Joseph, Mary, Matilda, Emily and Stanley (born in America). Frances (the matriarch, Alois' wife) died in 1887 and Alois married Mary Matjacek, a widow with three children: Joseph, Mary and Matilda. Alois and Mary had three children of their own: Sydney, Jay and Bessie. Stanley Simon (born c.1880, died 1939), the youngest child of Alois and Frances and my grandfather, married Emily Kaplan (born c.1888, died 1966) in February of 1909. Emily Kaplan's maternal grandfather was Franciscus F. Skalisky, born in Dolni Dobrouc in 1833. In 1854 he married Matilda Fisher in Dolni Dobrouc. Franciscus and Matilda (Fisher) Skalisky came to America in 1865, landing in New York and then migrating first to Waterloo, and later Monroe, Wisconsin, finally settling in Summit Township in Minnesota. They had ten children: Frank, Tillie, and Frances (born in Bohemia); and Albina, Anna, Mary, Helen, Rose, and Rudolph (born in America). Their daughter, Frances (born in 1859 in Dolni Dobrouc), married John Kaplan in 1877 at the Holy Trinity Church, Sommerset Township, Minnesota. John Kaplan, half Bohemian and half Austrian, was born in Austria in 1853. John and Frances (Skalisky) Kaplan had seven children: John, William, Edward, Anna, Mary, Emily, and Ella. John Kaplan (the patriarch) died in 1903 and his wife, Frances, blind for over 30 years, died in 1952. Stanley and Emily (Kaplan) Simon lived on a farm in Sommerset Township, south of Owatonna, Minnesota. They had four children: Clayton, Clifford, Lloyd, and Leona. Leona, my mother, married Ralph Horecka in 1947. I realize this bio is long and confusing, with many common first names and even surnames (the matter of consanguineous marriages comes to mind!), but any and all feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Researching: MISKOSKY, MISKOVSKY, KALISHEK, KALISEK, MLEZIVA
Looking for ancestors (also maybe current relatives?) in Bohemia or U.S. M'leziva's came to U.S. first around 1867, allegedly from the Pilsen area. Don't have the parents' names, but children were Barbara, Matthew and Jacob. They settled in upper Mich. Barbara stayed in Bohemia and married Conrad (Konrad) Peter Kalishek (Kalisek)(his parents were Ondrej Kalishek and Marketa Jindrova). Conrad and Barbara were ready to also come to the U.S. But before joining the M'leziva's in Mich, the Peshtigo fire wiped out almost the whole family except Matthew, so they were told to wait. They resettled in Hluboka near Nova Kdyne. Their children did eventually come to the U.S. at the request of their uncle Matthew. Barbara Mleziva Kalishek and Conrad Peter Kalishek had 3 sons and 4 daughters, one of whom, Annie (Johanna) was my great-grandmother, born in 1865. She married Roman Miskosky (could be Miskovsky) who was described as a Russian cavalry officer (born in 1863). However, he always claimed to be Bohemian. He came to the U.S. around 1890. Annie and their children followed two years later. I have lots of info on Mleziva's and Kalisheks, but have hit dead ends on Miskoskys. Will share what I have if you see a connection and would appreciate any help.

Researching: SVUGR, SUGER, CERMAK
I just recently found this information on the Ellis Island site, and would like to confirm and learn more. An Anna Svugr, age 40, widowed, her son Frank (listed as Frant, but I believe this could be in error), age 17, and daughter Anna, age 13, arrived in New York in May, 1898 on the ship Lahn from Kasejovice in Bohemia. My grandfather, Richard Suger, was born in New York in 1906 to a Frank Svugr and Anna Cermak (born in the US). His father (Frank) eventually returned to Europe, and perhaps his hometown(?). I know they lived in a Czech neighborhood in Manhattan, and the above immigrants came to stay with at least one son/brother. There is an address given (1380 Ave. Ave.) but this doesn't make sense. My grandfather had a brother Frank, and a sister(?) I believe, and all changed there name to Suger. I'd like to learn as much as possible about any of the above Svugrs or Anna Cermak, either in the US or going back to Bohemia.
