I've done research in Europe and am looking for information on my great grandfather, Jan (John) Wenceslaus Svatek, born in 1836 or 1837, deceased 3/32/1889. The great grandfather and grandfather were tailors. Jan Wencelaus Svatek left Bohema on the Leipzig which left from Bremen, Germany, and arrived in the U. S. at the Port of Baltimore on 5/24/1869. From there he went to St. Louis, Missouri. His wife was Eleanor Burian Svatek, born 1869 and deceased 5/22/1892. They had 2 children: Wenceslaus Jan Swatek, born on Jan 1, 1864 or 1865, deceased 2/20/1905; and Frantisek Svatek, born in 1868 or 1869, deceased 7/23/1888. Wenceslaus married on 10/26/1887 to Magdelene Costello, who was born on 1/7/1870, deceased 8/6/1959. They had 3 children, the oldest was Cyril William Swatek , Born 7/5/1889, deceased unknown. Cyril married Agnes Rose Stratmann on 10/12/1909. She was born on 11/13/1888 and deceased 7/12/1983. They had 4 children, Edgar William, born on 5/14/1911, Cyril George, born 7/15/1913, William Cyril, born 1/10/1920 (that's me!) and Margaret Florence, born 11/14/1924. Researching: VRTACEK, ROKOS, WACKOVA, VYBRONY
Joseph Vrtacek, b. ca. 1843, and his wife, Anna Rokos, b. ca. 1844, in Bohemia were married in Bohemia before they came to NYC in 1870. They lived in NYC and had a number of children while there. They moved to Killingworth, CT where they had 7 tracks of land. They did some farming into the early 1900s. The 1900 census has them living in Killingworth with two children: Charlie Vrtacek, b. 1886, and Emma Vrtacek (my great grandmother), b. Oct. 1877. Anna died in 1913 in Killingworth and was buried in Chester, CT. In 1914, her body was exhumed and reinterred in The Cemetery of the Evergreens in Brooklyn, NY. Joseph moved to Chester, CT some time after his wife's death and lived with a daughter, Rose Vybrony, and son-in-law Frank Vybrony. Joseph died in 1924 in Chester and was also buried in The Cemetery of the Evergreens (Tulip Grove, Lot #165). The parents of Joseph are unknown. The parents of Anna are Joseph Rokos and Elizabeth Wackova. Anyone with any information on the above surnames, please contact me.

Researching: VERBA, VRBA, KROPACEK, DOSKOCIL, NAJMAN, LOEBEL, LOCBEL, LUSTIG, HUBNER
I am trying to find lost relatives with these last names, but I'm "stuck in the tree". Can you help? My great-grandparents - Alois Verba/Vrba and Barbora Najman came to NYC around 1885 from Bohemia. My other great-grandparents - Frank Kropacek and Barboria Doskocil came to NYC around 1890. He was from Villemuf near Prague she was born in Moravia. They married in NYC. Doskocil's sister married Mr. Hubner and had a son, Joseph. Najman's mom's maiden name was Loebel or maybe Locbel. Somehow the Verba's are cousins to the Lustig family. Everyone settled in NYC, then to Astoria in Queens, then finally to different parts of Long Island. My grandmother was Mary Kropacek who married Joseph Verba. They lived in Long Island. Barboria Doskocil died a very tragic death on Dec. 24, 1900.

Researching: FRIED, HAGER
Hi, I'm searching for the birth information of Mary Fried, born April 6, 1876 in Friedersdorf, which might be the town now called Cakova, near Krnov in Moravia. Before 1918 the area was part of Austrian Silesia, which fits the information that I received that Mary was born in Austria. Her parents were Ignatz Fried (to my knowledge this is his original surname before immigration as well as after) and Theresa Hager. Ignatz took his family to Bremerhaven, Germany and then on to the United States where they settled in Minnesota. I'm hoping I can locate Mary's birth information to verify her parents origins and name as well. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who might have information on Mary or her family. Thanks.

Researching: CERVENEY
I am searching for information on Martin Cerveney, who died 18 April 1899, and his wife, Dorthy Cerveny, who died 17 April 1893.They were from Pilsen, Bohemia. They had 4 children, John, Jim, Margaret & my great grandmother, Josephine. What I am looking for is all the information I can get on Martin and Dorothy (siblings, parents, ancestors, dates and places of birth, death, etc.). I can use addresses to write to or places to E-Mail. I am most interested in maybe contacting Pilsen area churches.

Researching: BAROSH, BAROS, ZELENKA
I am researching the Barosh (Baros) family that came from Moravia to the US (Texas) in Nov 1870. I would like to know if anyone has information on Michael Barosh (Baros) and Anna Zelenka. They came from Roznow, Moravia, Czechslovakia. They had eight kids and 1 was born at sea, coming to the US. I am trying to find information on who their parents were. If anyone one else is researching these people or any of their descendents, I have some information I'm willing to give. Any help would be appreciated.

Researching: BEMER, BOEHMER
I remember my grandfather, Andrew Bemer (or Boehmer), telling me that he came from a small town in Czechoslovakia that sounded like "Nizna Boca". Does anyone have any resources or internet sites for this area? Thank you.
