Researching: HAZAK, CHAZAK, GETLER, GIETLER
I am interested in anyone researching the surname Hazak. I suspect Jozef Hazak, his wife Magdalena and four (?) children Karolina, Ambrozy, Francziszek and Weronica, migrated (in the early 1800's) from Bohemia to the Lodz industrial area, specifically Pabianice, as weavers. A variation of the surname that I have encountered in my research is CHAZAK. I am interested in finding out where in Bohemia they came from. I am also interested in anyone researching the surname Gelter. I suspect Jozef Getler, his wife Magdalena and two children Jozef (b. ~1818/20) and Maryanna (b.~1823), migrated from Bohemia in the 1830's, to the Lodz industrial area, specifically Pabianice, as weavers. They were Roman Catholics, which fits in with coming from Bohemia as I understand a lot of German Catholics moved to Bohemia to escape religous intolerance back in Germany. A variation of the surname that I have encountered in my research is Gietler. I have looked through LDS microfilm 1183549 item 6 "Indexes of German and other immigrants to the Lodz industrial area in Poland during the first half of the 19th century. Includes place of origin and other vital information." however have had no success. I am interested in finding out where in Bohemia they came from (and eventually where in Germany they originated from). A number of Getlers remain in the Lodz/Pabianice area, with a number relocating in 1946 to the German city of Dresden (some of the married names were Arldt, Erentraut, Klause).

Researching: ZEISEL, KACLOVIA
Am searching for any information regarding the Zeisel / Kaclovia families from Prague. These are my great-grandparents and they arrived in Baltimore on the Rhein on September 17, 1903 with my grandmother, then a child of 1. Their names were Adolph Zeisel and Marie Kacovia Zeisel. Their daughter's name was Maria Karolina. They went on to have at least seven more children and at one point lived in Bel Air Maryland. Only other information I have is that Adolph was the son of Thekly Zeisel and an unnamed woman, family stories whisper that she was a member of the Zeisel household staff. Both Adolph Zeisel and Marie Kaclovia were born in 1880. Marie Karolina was born in 1902 in Prague. Adolph was an electrician both in Prague and in Baltimore. We had originally believed that they were the only members of the family to have come to America, but it is possible that others came over afterwards. Would like to correspond with anybody researching these family names.

Anton Rynda and his wife Barbara Moucha emigrated from Czech with their five children in the middle of the 1850's possibly by way of Canada and Dubuque, Iowa. Their children were Anton, Vencl, Albert, Mary, & Frank. Mary's death certificate lists her birth place as Budejovice, Czech, while Frank's lists his as Velky-Zablata, Czech. Anton wrote to his brother Jacob who remained in Czech lamenting the fact that he would never see his beautiful Czech. The Rynda family eventually moved to Le Sueur County, Minnesota. Frantisek Moravec was born in Trebon, Czech ca. 1812, the son of Ignac Moravec & Veronika Maxova. My 97-year-old great uncle explains he is the way he is because he is a Bohunk. I have many relatives with the last name Duchac in the Antigo, Wisconsin area. As I understand it, my grandmother's grandmother and grandfather came to the US in the mid 1800's. They left from Trieste or Fiume in the Mediterranean or from Genoa, Italy and sailed to New Orleans and then took a steamboat to St. Louis. The settled initially in Manitowoc and Joseph Duchac the eldest son went to Langlade County, WI in 1878 and was involved in real estate. I am trying to trace them back to Bohemia and determine if anyone is still there. Any other information would be wonderful. I am Linda F. Block, granddaughter of Marion A. Duchac who is daughter of Joseph Duchac and Mary Dvorak (also of Antigo, WI). My great uncle is Ted E. Duchac, the youngest and the only living child of Joseph Duchac and Mary Dvorak.
