Researching: SELONEK
As far as I know, I am the last living person with my family name. I have been trying for several months to obtain information/history, etc., but I have very little firm information about the family. An early discussion about family roots with my late father yielded these facts. 1. While my father, Max, wasn't certain, he believed that the spelling of the name may have been slightly altered. 2 Although his father was born in New York (and possibly his mother, too), both of his grandparents were from Czechoslovakia...possibly Bohemia. His grandfather's name was Ralph. 3 Somewhere along the line (possibly mid-late 1800's), one of the male ancestors married a German woman. 4. Somewhere there was a distant relative named Anton/Antonin. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Researching: TROJAN, WAGNER, GOCHTOEDOS
One of my great-grandfathers was John (Johann) Joseph (Josef) Trojan, born January 20, 1859 in Mahren (Moravia), Austria-Hungary (present day CZ)--in Halbendorf, Olmutz (Olomouc) Diocese. He married December, 1881, Anna Eva Wagner. He died in Terrell, TX, after living for some time in Columbus, and then Houston, Texas, on April 17, 1908. Here is my question: His parents were Josef (Joseph) John (Johann) Trojan and Cajilin Gochtoedos (sic). Has anyone ever heard of such a name? I'm not sure where they were born--one record says "Bohemia," but it said that for their son (my great-grandfather) too, and he was born in Moravia. Anyway, I don't know much about Joseph John or his wife Cajilin--what about that name? What nationality/ethnicity could Gochtoedos be??? It is very possible that whoever transcribed the original document (evidently the birth certificate for their son John Joseph) created a misspelling. Any help would be appreciated.
