Researching: MATIJA, EJBL, JISKRA
Joseph Ejbl and Rose Matija emigrated from Pilsen (?) in the 1870's or 1880's. They lived for a time in a
sod hut in South Dakota, then moved to Cleveland, Ohio. My Grandmother, Rose Jiskra was born in
1892.

Researching: KOTRBA, STRAKA
I am looking for information about Anton Kotrba who married Frances Straka. Anton was born 14 July
1841 and Frances was born 22 September 1849. They had these children that we know of: Ignatius,
born 31 July 1870; Anna, born 20 August 1873; Mary, born 24 August 1875; Wenceslaus, born 4
September 1880; Frances, born 30 May 1883; Nettie, born 1 March 1884.
We know that Anton homesteaded in the United States in 1889. Anyone with information on this family,
where they lived in Czech Republic, is appreciated. Thanks.

Researching: KALLISTA, KALISTA
I am researching the Kallista family. Two bothers came from Bohemia; Joseph Kallista b. 1809 (a
shoemaker) and August Kallista b. 1813 (a harnessmaker) They settled in Peoria, Illinois shortly after
leaving Bohemia in 1854 and 1848. Joseph took the name Collister and August's family took the name
Kallister. Joseph's wife's name was Anna and August's, Mary. Both women came from Bohemia. Any
help or clues to the Bohemian origins of this family will be appreciated.

Researching: PRENOSIL, KADLEC, KOZA
I am trying to find any history regarding my father's family. My father's name was Joseph John Prenosil
and he lived in Omaha, Nebraska as well as Des Moines, Iowa. His father's name was John Prenosil.
His mother's name was Rose Kadlec Prenosil, and she was the sister of Joseph Kadlec of Morse Bluff,
NE; Anton Kadlec of Elkhorn, Wisconsin and Marie Koza of Tyn-Vltavou, Czechoslovakia.).

My grandfather, John Zikovsky, who was born in Moravia in 1871, came to the United States in
1893 and married Anna Machavina in a suburb of Cleveland. His parents were Joseph and Mary and he

Researching: SPALENY, YELINEK
I am searching for any information regarding the surname Spaleny. I
haven't been able to find anything, anywhere. My father's name was
Rudolph Albert Spaleny, Jr. He was born in Corunna, MI in 1917. My
grandfather's name was Rudolph Albert Spaleny. He was born in Bohemia,
near Prague. My paternal grandmother's maiden name was Bessie Yelinek.

Researching: HORAK, FAIRCHILD
I am the greatgrandson of Wesley Horak. He was born in 1845. As far as
I know he was from near Prauge. He served in the civil war in the Iowa
22nd Infantry. His wifes name was Barbara. They lived on a farm Near
Walker Iowa. They had 3 sons, Fred, William (my grandfather) Lawrence
and a daughter Louise. My grandfather married Rebecca Fairchild who was
from Indpendence Iowa. They had three children, Leo (my father) and two
daughter Fern and Opal. My grandfather William lived on the family farm
near Walker and then moved into town and managed the Krob elevator until
his death in 1936. If any of you out there know of my family or might be relatives, I would
like to hear from you.

Researching: MAGURA
Searching for grandparents Anna & Micheal Magura.
I am looking for my father's sister's children. A son, Farouska, or
Frank, was killed in the WWII as a pilot for the Czech Air Force, but
his sister, Firinka, or Irene, corresponded with our family for a long
time after the war. We have lost track of her children. The hometown
may have been Zamberk, or Doudleby.

I am looking for any information I can find on Alois Fillip who came to
Galveston, Texas in January of 1971 on the vessel Meteor. He came with
his wife Agnes Pavlasek. They had three children...Lorenz, Agnes and
Constant. They were from Paseky, Fenstat, Moravia. They settled in
Ammannsville, Texas. I am also looking for information on Mary Hedwig Matura who was born in
1877 in Moravia and married Lorenz Fillip in Texas in 1895. Her
mother's name was Bertha Seigriet who was born in Austria in 1834 and
her father was Martin Matura who was born in Zavruh, Austria. Mary
(Maria) had a nephew living with her in 1910. His name was Frank
Odstrcil.

Researching: UHLER, UHLIR, SAROKODRIJ
We are researching the family of Rosalie Uhler (Uhlir), grandmother. She immigrated to the United
States, ca. 1907, from Vikov (V'lkov), Tabor, Bohemia. She was b. 12/26/1885 and had 3 sisters and 1
brother who remained in Bohemia. Her brother was killed while working for railroad, crushed by freight
or freight train. Her father's name was Albert Uhler (Uhlir) and her mother's name was Katerinia

Researching: PULKRABEK, MOTICKA
I have been checking out my husband's grandfather, John Pulkrabek, who was born in Czechoslovakia
Dec. 8, 1842. He married Anna Moticka, who was born Mar. 25, 1839 in Czechoslovakia. They came to
America around 1866 or 1867 and settled around Silver Lake, Mn. Their son John was born Mar. 11,
1865 in Czechoslovakia. They were from around Stremosice cis 3, Czechoslovakia. John, the son, had 9
children. All but one were born in Czechoslovakia. The youngest son, also named John, was born in
America. in Minnesota They probably sailed from Bremen, Germany. If you could give me any

Researching: HOLUB
Seeking info. on the family & descendants of Joseph and Terezie Holub. Joseph was the brother of
Josepha and Adalbert (Albert, Vojtech) Holub who arrived Baltimore in 1856 and settled in Manitowoc &
Kewaunee Cos., WI. They came from Olesna and Skomelno, Liblin and Radnice Parish, Rokycany Co.,
Bohemia. It is not known when Joseph and Terezie came to America. Known children of Joseph &
Terezie were: John Holub (1848-1906), husband of Katherine, Josepha Holub (1850-1906), wife of Chas.
Mathieson, and Mary Holub (c1861-1887), wife of Fritz Fick. Other possible children were Mrs.
Karmazian and Mrs. Padour (or Mrs. Bartour), and possibly others. Need information on all the children.
