My father lived in Lipnica Wielka, Poland from age 3 to 19 (1911 to 1929). His name was Andrew C.

1971. He was one of 9 children. My mother was Jennie Karkosak and she passed away in 1989.

Researching: TUTKO, RABATIN, PIRHODA, MEARNIK,
PETYAK, LENTZ, NEZBELA, BECK, PRICE, KRISE, VAN ORMER, VARGO, PAZEK, BARNYAK, MORAN
I am searching for information on my
mother's family history. The surnames that I have come upon in looking for
information include: Tutko (my mother's maiden name);
Rabatin (my grandmother's maiden name); Pirhoda (my great-grandmother's
maiden name); Mearnik (my grandfather's mother's maiden name).
I am really not sure of any area they could have came from. My
grandmother, Margaret Tutko (Rabatin), says she believes her mother came from
Czechoslovakia.....or in that area somewhere. Her mother, Mary Pirhoda, came
to the U.S. in the early 1900s ( we think around 1910?). She came to
Connecticut where she met my great grandfather, John Rabatin (whom also came
over to the U.S. earlier). He was married once before and had one child,
John, to his first wife (who died in childbirth). Mary and John married and
later moved to Dunlo, Pa. They had seven children, my grandmother being one
of them. Three Sisters were Anna Tutko ("Munna"), Helen Rabatin, and Agnes
Rabatin. Her brothers were Georgie, Jimmy, Andy, Steven, and step-brother
John (mentioned above). George is the only one still alive. He lives in
Windber, Pa. My grandfather, Steve Tutko, believes that his mother and father also
came over from some area in Eastern Europe....one of the Slavic speaking
countries. His mother's maiden name was Mearnik. She married my
great-grandfather, Tutko. They lived in Gallitzin, Pa. and had ten
children. The girls were Margaret Petyak, Helen Lenz, Annie Nezbela, and
Mary Beck. The boys were John, Jake, Joe, Nick, Eddie, and Steve (my
grandfather). Only my grandfather and Mary are still alive.
My grandmother, Margaret Rabatin met my grandfather Steve Tutko, after
her older sister, Anna ("Munna") married my grandfather's older brother,
John. They married and settled down in Gallitzin, Pa. They also had 12
children. Two died at childbirth. The others are: Margaret Price, Jeanne
Krise, Joanne VanOrmer, Nancy Vargo, Sandy Plazek, Kathy Barnyak, and my
mother, Karen Moran. (Kathy and Karen are twins). The three brothers are
Steve Jr. ("Bud"), Michael, and David (more commonly called Pete).
If you have any information dealing with any of my family names, other
relatives, or know of what area we might have come from.
