Researching: MACEK
Researching Macek. Louis (Lajous) was born in Feb. 1895 in Dorok, Slovakia to Mathias Macek and Frantiska (Bilpuk, Bilpur or maybe Wilbur). Mathias had listed his home as Marklifer. I believe that to be poor translation on someone's part. I am first trying to find Mathias' family. Mathias was born in 1859 and some time later was separated from the rest of the family. The father and some portion of brothers came to the US earlier than Mathias (1903).

Researching: KROPINAK, ZEMAN, SEAMAN, PITRIK, PETRASS, PETRACS, MNICH, PERHACS, SADVAN, PATZUNYA, PISKO, SENDA, HAUS, MOSKALUK, LUPIENIAK, MOXON, MOXIN, MAXIM
All of these names except Moskaluk and Lupieniak are associated with the villages of Porac, Slovinky, and Helcmanovce in eastern Slovakia. Lupieniak comes from the village of Medyka in southeast Poland right on the border with the Ukraine, and Moskaluk from Hastow Tlumach in the Ukraine. In Porac, Michael Zeman married ? Pitrik. She died shortly after the birth of her baby daughter (Mary) and Michael married ? Moxon. The family of 3 eventually ended up in Lethbridge Alberta Canada but we think they may have stayed for a time in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. Members of the Moxin family lived in Liberty (Vanderbilt and Dawson), Pennsylvania, and some members of the next generation then moved to Cleveland, Detroit, and Fairmount, West Virginia. Stephen Pisko and Anna Senda, both from Helcmanovce, married in about 1905 in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada but I do not know when or how they came to Canada. The remaining names are great great great grandparents.

Researching: BIZIK
My good friend in Slovakia, Vladimir Bizik, is age 36. His great uncle Ferdinand Bizik came to the Chicago area about the 1920s. That family was also related to the Uhrik family -- Mary and her family. They came from western Slovakia, around Povazska Bystrica. Vladimir would really like to see if he can find any North American-residing Bizik and Uhrik relatives. He is, fortunately, fluent in English. Please, please e-mail me, if you have any info or interest, or if you have any relatives you can refer me to on this. We invite you to check out My Slovak-American Ancestors.

Researching: ZOLMANN
Zollmann von Zollerndorf, Ritter. Oesterr. Ritterstand. Diplom vom 9. Oct. 1813 fur Wolfgang Z.ollmann, k.k. Gubernial-Secret, von dessen Sohnen, neben zwei Tochtern, nur Franz, k.k. Gubernail-Registrator, einen mannl. Sprossen hinterliess, Leopold, geb. 1833, K.K. Hauptm. im 21. Feld-Jager-bataillon. This would indicate the estate of Zollerndorf would be located in the Krane or Austrian Crown Lands durin 1813 to 1833 of which mostly belong to modern day Slovenia. The difficulty here is that the villages have different ethnic names and the German name went out of use after World War I . In search for the origin of Zollerndorf, the possibilities lean toward the towns of Zoll and Zollnern in Austria or present day (Mihai Viteazu, Maros County, Romania) which is Zoltan in Hungarian and Zollerndorf in German. One can also find a Sophie Edle Zollmann v. Zollerndorf born December 6, 1813 in Prag/Prague the capital of the Czech Republic, part of the former Kingdom of Prussia and former Soviet Union, she died on March 12, 1883 in Budweis. Sophie Edle Zollmann married Prosper Karl v. Berchtold of a noble blood line. Karl & Sophie begat one child Bohuslav Pramowil Franz Leo Berchtold, born October 7, 1841 in Nezdaschow and died May 7, 1884 in Nezdaschow. (note: Sophie may be the daughter of Wolfgang Zollmann whom the Coat of Arms was awarded by the Austrian Government but also may be Wolfgang Zollmann's son Franz's daughter. Franz also had a son named Leopold Zollmann. Sophie Edel Zollmann named her son Bohuslav Pramowil "Franz Leo" Berchtold). In my research I also located the Zollmann family name in Dresden, Germany (very close to Praque). Johann Wilhelm Zollmann born unknown and died December 27, 1749 in Dresden, Germany married to Johanne Sophie Gerhard (direct descendant of Martin Luther) born June 28, 1714 in Jena. Johann Wilhelm and Johanne Sophie (Gerhard) Zollmann begat Sophie Zollmann born in 1740. I believe Zollerndorf to possibly be Prague the capital of the Czech Republic, if not a town then an estate in the local vicinity. In search for other origins of Zollerndorf, the possibilities lean toward the towns of Zoll and Zollnern in Austria or present day (Mihai Viteazu, Maros County, Romania) which is Zoltan in Hungarian and Zollerndorf in German The truth be known of it's origin is still enigmatic and may be archived and sealed away or lost in history. Can anyone find reference or further information to the above data for me, please. Thank You.
