there were other children. Janos died Dec 22, 1870. I need information on who were his
siblings and Grandparents and where is he buried. Anna's second marriage was Feb 18,
1878 to Janos Kovaly (1824-?), son of Mihaly Kovaly and Zsuzi Szabol. They had Anna
(1879), and Elizabeth (1882). Janos was 54 at the time of his marriage to Anna and had
children from a previous marriage. I do not know their names. I also need to know when
and where Janos died and who were his siblings. Anna moved to U.S., ca 1890, with
Michael, George, Anna, and Elizabeth. She lived in the Marinette, WS/Menominee, MI
area until 1905. Then she moved to Tacoma, WA. Did Janos Kovaly come too? What

Researching: WESELENAK, WESTLOCK, MIHALKO, COOPET, KOPETO
Searching for information on Weselnak. Andrew, my grandfather, immigrated to the
U.S. approximately 1921 from place unknown. He was born in Bratislava, Slovakia and
often said he was sending money home to family in "Poland." He married Anna Coopet in
1926 and they settled in St. Paul, MN. When he opened his upholstery business, he
changed his surname to Westlock. I am interested in obtaining information on families
in Bratislava around 1903 when my grandfather was born. Two brothers, James and
Steven, immigrated to U.S. in 1911 and 1912. Their father's name was John Weselenak
and their mother was Annette. I am also interested in finding out more about John and
Annette. Lastly, I am searching for Mihalko, Mary, born in Czechoslovakia July 22,
1886, married Lawrence Coopet/Kopeto in Niagra, WI, then settled first in Iron
Mountain, MI and subsequently St. Paul, MN. Her father's name is listed as John Mihalko
on her death cert. She came to U.S. in 1900-1901. I am interested in any information on
her father, John, also.

Researching: GYURICA
My mother, Theresa Gyurica, b. 1894, and her brothers and sisters, immigrated to the
USA in 1907, along with their parents. The ship records that I have reviewed show that
they came from and were born in a town called Oravica. A map that I have shows this
town/village to be about 25/28 miles north and northeast of Zilina, and about half way
between the towns of Oravska Lesna and Zakkamenne. I would like to know more about
this village. Any and all information would be helpful. I understand that there were other
family members who did not come to the USA, so possible there are other GYURICA's
living in that general area. Would there be birth records and such still available?

Researching: STEFURA, MATALIK
Hi. I am desperately searching for those from Western Pennsylvania who might either
share or know of families who share the Slovak surname of my grandmother. Her name
was Helen Stefura. She grew up in Washington County in Western Pennsylvania and lived
in the areas of Atlasburg/Burgettstown/Canonsburg. She was born in the 1890s and
married George Matalik. The two lived in Burgettstown, Pa. Both are now deceased. The
only other information I have about her relatives is that she had a sister Susan. I have been
unable to locate name Stefura anywhere. I am also searching for further information about
the origins of my grandfather's family, the Mataliks, who lived for a time in Valley
Works, Pa., in the late 19th century and early 20th. George Matalik was one of nine
children born in Valley Works. He later lived in Burgettstown, Pa. and worked as a
coalminer. His parents' names were Joanna and John or Joe. Some members of our family
have spelled our name Matalic. Please help with any information you may have. Thank
you!
