Researching: SLOFF
My fathers last name is Sloff. According to
several certificates it says he is Czech, some say Austrian/Hungarian, and

Researching: ROSIPANY, ROSIPANI, ROSPAN
Hi--need information on any relatives of John or Jan Rosipany or spelled
Rosipani born in 1874 and emigrated to United States and then served in
U.S. Army in Spanish-American War. He was my grandfather and did mostly
farming in northeastern Pennsylvania. Changed surname to Raspen
sometime after coming to U.S. I know he had a brother Fred who lived in
southeastern Pennsylvania and an old-maid sister Mary in Wilkes-Barre.

Researching: LIPOVSKY, HUDEK
Please find any information you might have on Michael Lipovsky. He is no
longer living, but he and his wife, Barbara Hudek, came to America in the
early 1900s from Austria-Hungary. I am his great-granddaughter. I never
knew him, but i would love to know more about him if it is at all
possible. I am hoping to one day direct and write a movie based on his
life and Slovakia, and i should hope to one day visit this country that
my surname is from. Oh, and his son (my grandpa) is Benedict Lipovsky Sr. (deceased). He is

I live in Charleston SC. I am researching the name
Botchie which I was told was change from Bacha or Bacca. My father was Paul
Botchie born in Piney Fork Ohio. His father was Pavol (Paul) Botchie or Bacha
who was born 1874 in Jesenov CZ and married to Maria (Mary) Zofchak born 1884
in Kusin CZ. They migrated to the Steubenville Ohio area from CZ. In my
research at the LDS I found an Anna Bacha born 1860 in Bardejov SK and was
married to Frank Lastivka or Lastuka or Lastaka born 1858 in Bardejov, Slovakia. I
dont know if there is a connection between anna and my grandfather Pavol but
hers was the only Bacha I found in the LDS records. I would appreciate any and
all info on these names.

The Pavlik family came from Bozcice, Zupa Kosicka, Slovakia. John Pavlik was
born prior to 1866. He had a sister (first name unknown) who married Mr.
Kochis. He had another sister whose name was Kosulana, which I am told means
shirt maker. John Pavlik married Elizabeth Chetsko in the early 1880s.
Elizabeth Chetsko was the daughter of Ellen Bednar and Mr. Chetsko. Elizabeth
had siblings: Mike, Andrew, John, George, Susan Janosko and Anna Seklovsova.
Elizabeth was born around 1863. John Pavlik's first wife is unknown, but they
had daughters: Elizabeth, Susan, Mary and Anna Onder, who lived in Youngstown,
Ohio. John Pavlik and Elizabeth Chetsko had the following children: George,
John, Michael, Andrew, Paul, twins Joseph and Anna Vasko and Mary Hajducko.
George married Anna Zaharsha and immigrated to the US. He returned to
Slovakia and died there. John married (wife's name unknown) and also
immigrated and returned to die in Slovakia. Mary Hajducko never left
Slovakia. Michael, Andrew, Paul, Joseph and Anna Vasko all immigrated to
Youngstown, Ohio. Michael married Mary Kovach. Andrew married Mary Burta /
Burla. Paul married Anna Yurko. Joseph married Mary Vodilko. Anna married
Mike Vasko. I have declaration of intent to naturalize certificates for
Michael, Andrew, Paul and Joseph Pavlik. I also have information on most of
the children of the above Pavliks. John Pavlik died in 1897, he was a
Lutheran. Elizabeth Chetsko Pavlik and all her children converted to
Catholicism shortly after. Elizabeth Chetsko Pavlik died in 1935.

Researching: VOLIANSKI
Hello! My name is Anton Volianski. I have been trying to get any
information about my family which was forceably splitted in the times of
Stalin. My grand father and his family amounting 13 people was
departered to Vladivostock from Warsaw in the 90's of the last century.
Then, during the soviet times two of them (my grandfather and his
brother) stayed in Russia. The others were escaped the country. By the
30's of our century, my grandfather had some relations with some of his
relatives via post. However, he could not resume doing that in 1937
because of prosecutions of the soviet KGB.
If you have some similar dignities, please let me know. I work from

This is obviously a very long shot at finding anything. My
grandparents, George Bisztak variantly Bisztyak and grandmother
Stephania Plenczner were born in Drahovce, he in 1884 and she in 1893.
Her mother's maiden name was Helena Karaba. They emigrated to the US
before 1908 and were married in Marblehead, Ohio in 1908. We had always
been told they were from near Prague, but their baptismal certificates
definitey are from the Roman Catholic Church in Drahovce, district of
Piestany, diocese of Trnava. I neither speak nor read Slovak, but do
celebrate Christmas using my grandomther's old recipes.
Finding anyone related from either side would be interesting. Most of
my family lives in Cleveland.
