Researching: GRIGASSY, KUSTAN
Our grandfather, Gyula (Julius) Grigassy was a Byzantine priest in a village called Petrick then in Ungvar (Uzhorod). He was selected as the personal secretary to a Bishop Takatch to come to the United States, arriving 11 November 1924. Accompanying him was our grandmother, Yolanda Kustan, and their children. Since that entire generation is deceased, we younger relations have only partially remembered stories of our family history. If anyone is familiar with either the Kustan or Grigassy family from that area, please respond. Thank you.

Researching: KONOZA, FOKSIENSKI
I am searching for information on from Konoza and Foksienski Polkowo, Poland. My Grandfather Michael Stanislaw Konoza was born there in 1890. At that time it was part of the Russian Empire. Whether the town is actually within the boundaries of present day Poland is unknown. At this writing I have been unable to find the town there, so I am looking outside it's borders! My Grandfather came to America and settled in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where my father John Stanislaw Konoza was born in 1922. My grandfather was a weaver, as was his father before him. The family may have originated in Italy or Spain with the surname of Canosa, only to have the spelling easternized to Konoza. A Great-grandfather by the the name of Ignacy Foksienski was also from Polkowo. He settled in the United States and had a daughter Pelagia Foksienski in 1890, who married Michael Stanislaw Konoza. Polkowo might be located in one of the Baltic states. I have been looking there, as well.

I am trying to find some information on ancestors for my wife, who knows nothing about any of the generations that preceded that of her grandparents, and precious little of them. Her grandfather was a Dudinyak, her grandmother's maiden name was Skurla (although she has no idea how accurate those English spellings approximate the originals). Her grandmother appeared to speak Slovak, could understand Russian when she saw it on television, but never said from where her family emigrated -- whether it was Ruthenia, or southern Poland, or somewhere else -- around the turn of the century.

My grandparents came from a village north of Presov, called Hradisko in about 1900. Their name was Eurich. My grandmother's name was Gdovin or perhaps Sabol. I am interested in knowing about the village of Hradisko and the area surrounding it. What was it like and what and who is there now? Are the inhabitants of my grandparent's era still there, or where did they go. Can I get a college person, on someone else to dig up the old church records about the sister and brothers and parents and grandparents of my grandparents? I may even go there in a few years. Something seems to be tugging at me to go.

Researching: DESATNICK, LESKO
I am researching the heritage of my grandmother Mary Desatnick. We have her son's birth certificate stating that she was born in Eperes or Eperves Ufale, Czecho-Slovakia. In Eperes, we believe it could be spelled Eperes or Epeves because the r and v are hard to decifer. She was born either 25 August 1872 or 74. Her death certificate states 1874 and her son's birth certificate indicates she was born 1872. Her son was my father, George Lesko. Her husband Michael Lesko came from the area of Rudlou. Again, there is some mystery as to my grandfather. The story goes in the family that when he was 15 years old he came to America as a stow-a-way on a Merchant ship and could not speak English. The people who took him in gave him their name, Lesko. But I was told he was naturalized and then he married my grandmother Mary. I have researched the rest of the family line and am down to a stop about my grandparents. The only living relative tells me he really don't know the true name of my grandfather because the family never really talked about it.

Researching: PALAGIA, TITKANICH, TYTKANYCZ, LATANICH, LATANYCZYN
I am searching for information on my paternal great grandparents. My great grandmother Palagia's maiden name was Titkanich but could have been spelled Tytkanycz. She was born 02 June 1873 in we belive to be the town of Komancza. As far as I know it is a Carpatho-Rusyn village. On her baptism certificate it appears that her parents names were Jacobus Tytkanycz and Cathrina Filia. It looks like the region is the republica Polonia. My great grandfather was Frank Latanich which we believe was actually Frantisek Latanyczyn. He was born in 1873 in the town of Christiehorv with was near Galacia. On his natrualization papers it lists Austia as his country of origin. From notes I have recieved from other family members, my great grandparents address was Poshta (post office) Komancza, Galacia, Malo Polska, Austria Hungary. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I would love to find out how to get birth certificates for them. Thanks in advanced.
