Frantisek came to America in 1898 and later, sent for his parents in 1908 when they were in their 70s. Any information who be much appreciated.

Researching: MINARIK, MINASIV, SVOBODA, BRABEC
Greetings from Santa Rosa. I haven't had much luck seeking info on my dad, Joseph Brabec. Two months ago I sent a letter with a check for $100.00 to an outfit in Prague, who does genealogy research in Czechoslovakia, for $15.00 an hour, with the stipulation that when they use up the $100.00, they send me whatever info they have gathered up to that point. Two weeks ago I received a note (in Czech) that they had requested info from government archives in Prague and they would send it on to me. So far, nothing yet. Now, n my mother's side (Minariks), I found a cousin's name in the Social Security Index. I wrote to McHenry County, IL last week and they graciously answered quickly with a death certificate. Everything on the paper adds up except for her father's name which is listed as Yaclav Minasiv. I know, positively, that her dad's (my uncle) name was James Minarik. Her mother's listed name is correct, Mary Svoboda, so, whence comes the name of Yaclav Minasiv? When I came home from the war in 1945 and visited them, Aunt Mary had not remarried, even though Uncle Jim had died in 1938. Buried in a plot in St. Adelbert cemetery in Niles IL, just north of Chicago, are Vaclav and Josefa Minarik. I think they are my grandparents, but have no proof. All of the people I mentioned were born or lived in Chicago. So, although I received little help on the web researching about my dad, maybe I'll have better luck with Yaclav Minasiv.

He was married to Marie Mala, with whom he had 2 children, Jaklaub (born 1871, died 1907, CZ) and Tomas (born 16 January 1870, died 1901).
