Thank you for letting us post our family name. Unfortunately, we have no further information other than my grandfather was from Bohemia, and my grandmother also. She used to cook for rich families in Germany, and also my grandfather's real name is unknown to us. You see, he was an illegitimate child and took on the name of the family his mother was working for. My grandfather, Gabriel Hreben was also an accomplished musician and played in a Concert/Wedding band before coming to America around the turn of the century. He played what looked like an E-Horn (similar to a French Horn). My father also played music on many different instruments, and I also play Trumpet in an Oompah band called Jimmies Bavarians. We play many traditional German and Bohemian songs including the Red/Blue Skirt Waltz and others.
