Researching: SKALLA, NIMECEK
I am looking for information on my grandfather Charles N. Skalla. Possibly
born in Prague in The 1870's or early 1880's. He was married to Theresa
Mary Nimecek in Czechoslovakia. She was born on March 8th or 9th, 1882 in
Prague we think. She came to America and worked to bring Charles over.
She became a citizen on October 12, 1915. Charles later moved to South
America and died in Argentina. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Researching: KOHLER, KOEHLER, RUFFER, RUFFEE,
RUFFA
Ignatz Kohler (name was changed to 'Koehler' after immigration) born c 1840
and Ernestina Ruffer (Ruffee or Ruffa) had three children: Clemens born
5 Sep 1868, Josef (Joseph) born Jul 1870, and Aemilia born c1871. After
Ernestina died in Bohemia, Ignatz married her sister, Agnes born c1851.
Ignatz, Agnes, Clemens, and Josef immigrated in Jun 1887 out of Hamburg,
Germany and settled in San Antonio, Texas except Josef then migrated to The
Dalles, Oregon. Documents at immigration (and family oral history) list
their hometown as Popelov, Bohemia (located about 85 kilometers north of
Prague). I am searching for the name and address of the Catholic church
near Popelov, Bohemia that may have additional birth, death, and marriage
records of their ancestors. Additionally, I would like to know if there
are any Kohler or Ruffer family relatives still living in the Czech Republic.

Researching: BORNEMANN, OLDENBERG, OLDENBURG,
NITZ, LUECKENOTTE, CLARK, WHALEN, WHELAN, LILLIS
I would like to submit the names of my Great-Grandmother and her parents and sister to your
service. Henrietta M Bornemann was the daughter of Charles and
Caroline Oldenberg (or Oldenburg) born in the village of Selnitz
(Zelenice, in Czech) on 17 Jan 1857. She immigrated to the United States
of America in 1875 probably from the port of Bremen, with her sister,
Anna Augusta Bornemann Nitz and Anna's husband, August Nitz, and their
daughter, Bertha Augusta Nitz (later married a Mr. Lueckenotte).
Henrietta finally settled in Ripley County, Missouri marrying first,
Thomas Clark a native of Ireland. They had two sons, Thomas Jr, and
James William CLARK. After Thomas Sr, died, she married my
Great-Grandfather, James Whalen (originally Whelan), native of Milltown
Malbay, Co Clare, IRELAND, born on 19 Nov 1844, the son of John WHELAN
and Hana Lillis. I would like to learn more of Selnitz or Zelenice and
hopefully find any Bornemann or Oldenberg or Nitz relatives or
acquaintences. Thank you for your service.

Researching: CERVENKA, MLSKOVA, VICHR
I am trying to locate relatives of Josef Cervenka who died in 1910 in
Chicago, who may be of some assistance in this quest.
He was a brother of Anna Mlskova of Pisek, who was a Roman Catholic and
who died in 1955/56 in Pisek. During her life she had adopted and
sheltered two girls, either Jewish or Gypsies, who were sent to
concentration camps and killed by the Nazis. She had been receiving
spiritual guidance from her pastor Ladislav Vichr of Budejovice prior to
her death. Prior to World War 2 her son Josef Mlsek emigrated to
Ireland, where he died in 1954. His daughter Ann Brady seeks any
information about her ancestors, particularly the resting place of her
grandmother in Pisek which to date she has been unable to locate. Some
interesting photographs and records of the family and pre-war Pisek are
on hand.
