Their names were Agnes Smejkal Tobin, Cecelia Smejkal McKenna, Irene Smejkal Vaughn and

in 1905 in Tabor, S.D. and died in Moran, Wyoming in Sept 1984. I believe they lived in the

anglicized version of the Slovak name. Michale (Dimitri) Zulick and Maria Lehockey came
to America from what was then Austria-Hungary around 1900, moved to the Bluefield, WVA area
and later to Coaldale, PA. I know this is the Czech not the Slovak board, but I am not

Researching: DOSEK, CECH, KABOUREK, BARTEK, PLUCNAR, JANECEK,
ONDRAKOVA, LOUCKY, FUXA.
Dosek, Cech, Kabourek, Bartek, Fuxa, Plucnar, Ondrakova, Loucky, and Janecek.
I am interested in researching my family history. My father's family are
all of Czech ancestry. I have the following surnames in my family:
I have records that show Jan Cech was from the village of Sokoli, Town of
Trebic. His wife was Catherine, and was also born in Moravia, but I do not
know her maiden name. I also have an obituary that lists their dates of
death and the birthdate of Catherine. How can I find out more information
about these people? I have a copy of a Baptismal certificate written in Czech for Vaclav
Dosek, born on 15 February 1873 in Slavetice, in the Parish of Dalsice. His
mother was Frantiska, (daughter of Frantisek Janacek, a farmer from Lhanice,
and his wife Marie Ondravova) and his father was Vaclav Dosek, a farmer (son
of Ondrej Doska, retired in Biskoupy, and his wife Marie Loucky). I would
love to find out more about these people, and information about their parents
and siblings. Where could I begin to look? On my grandmother's side, I have hand written records of my grandmother
that show that her father, Wenceslaus F. Kabourek (or could that be Vaclav
Kabourek?) was born on 17 September 1868 in Zvykov, Czech. His parents were
Matej Blaise Kabourek and Elizabeth (Alsabetta) Fuxa, but I don't know where
they were born. I know my grandmother's mother was Philomena Dominica
Bartek, who was born in Nebraska, USA, to Jan Bartek and Veronica Plucnar.
They came here from Czech. sometime in the 1870's, I believe. How can I find
more information about them? I would appreciate any guidance you might have. Thank you.

Researching: SEPIN, SEPIAL, ZACEK
My name is maiden name Sepin. My great grandma was Katherine Zacek Sepin, married to Albert
John Sepin in Poland in 1903. We have been told she was born in Slovakia or Czech - not
sure or verified. Further, she was allegedly a royal princess descendant, wherever she
is from. Her middle name may have been Ann. Also, allegedly upon emigrating to the US, the
Immigration office changed their name from Sepial to Sepin in 1905 in Wisconsin, USA.
Albert John Sepin (or Sepial) had a son from a former marriage named Joseph Charles Sepin,
born in Budapest Hungary. Since they seemed to move around a lot for poor people, we tend
to believe that Katherine was from royalty and had money for all these moves.
If you have any info that may help me researching my roots, I would greatly appreciate it!

Researching: NAAR, HENDERSON, HRUSCHKA
I am researching William (or Wilhelm) Naar. He was born in "Moravia" in about 1822, and is
almost certainly the same person recorded as arriving in London from Vienna via Hamburg on 29
November 1849. On 9 May 1852 he married Janet Henderson in Glasgow. Two sons were born in
Glasgow in 1853 and 1855. The couple are next heard of in London, where a daughter, Mary
Cecilia, was born in 1859, and then in Dublin in 1864, when another daughter Cecilia Hruschka,
was born. Janet Naar née Henderson died in strange circumstances in Dublin in 1869; her
husband was clearly not around. In fact he disappears from the record after 1864. Conceivably
he was the same person as the otherwise unknown "John Naar" who died in Dublin in 1871.
William Naar was an upholsterer. Family tradition has it he may have been Jewish, but he had
his children baptized as protestants (Church of Scotland, England and Ireland respectively).
Does anyone recognize this name?

Husinec. My mother was Bozena Benda (nee Polednova) born May 12, 1923, In Zirovnice in
Cechy. Her father was also Josef (I think) and her mother was Jana. My
grandmother was from Vlcetin (near Zirovnice.) I do not yet have birth dates
for my grandparents. Any suggestions? My uncle was Stanislav Benda and was
born In 1923 in Prague. I know they cousins and I am trying to find them and
any connections to any Bendas who may have emigrated prior to the 1920 and
may be related. There were also Poledna relatives who emigrated to the US as
well.

Anna (nee Unknown) - B. 11.12.1791 - D. 10.2.186? from Poppowa?
I am hoping to track down if: 1. Wenzl & Anna had any other children,
2. where & when they were born, and died. (see below). 3. Also where Wenzl & Anna are buried.
I know this is a long shot but if anyone could point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it
Thanks in anticipation.
Immigration to New Zealand 1863
Lorenz(1) Turnwald ,
son of Wenzl B. 27.4.1794 D.6.11.1833 & Anna B. 11.12.1791 D. 10.2.186? from Poppowa,
left with his wife Anna (nee Wacker) & five children,
Bartolomaus B 25.1.1851 - D. 2.12.1899,
Lorenz(2), B 3.7.1853 - D. 2.3.1940
Joseph, B.12.11.1855 - D. 25.12.1938
Katharina B. 25.11.1858 - D?
Elizabeth, B. 6.5.1861 - D. 23.1.1858,
from Staab by train on 26th February 1863, travelled by train to Prague
(then the capital of Bohemia) then Hamburg, to Liverpool, England by package
steamer and boarded the vessel WAR SPIRIT at Gravesend, which was 1234 tons
and Capt. Luckes was in charge - leaving 12th March 1863 for the voyage to Auckland,New Zealand.
The journey took 106 days.
Lorenz(1) Hodge was killed during a storm in the Tasman Sea, 15th June, when a crate fell on him.
Anna and the children arrived in Puhoi, North Auckland, New Zealand on 29th June 1863,
after travelling on a coastal vessel from Auckland to Wenderholm, where they and their possessions
were taken by long boat & Maori Canoe up the Puhoi river to Puhoi.
Landing there in the evening and were settled on the top of the land nearest the landing site.
She later gave this 12 acres to the Catholic Church at Puhoi , taking up her grant at the top of Turnwald Road.
Anna married (1870) Charles BUTT, an Englishman - stonemason, who was a fellow passenger
on the War Spirit in 1863 and they had a daughter (Anna).
Anna was tragically shot (November 1877) above the knee when her son Joseph's gun accidentally went off as he was cleaning it.
The wound was dressed by friends and Anna was taken to Auckland Hospital were she died a few days later.
She was buried in Grafton Gully Cemetery Auckland, New Zealand but there is now no trace of her grave.
I believe there is a native tree planted in the gully in her remembrance.
