I am trying to find out what happen to my grandfather. He disappeared after World War II in Europe. His
name is Ferdinand Joseph, Bosak born 27 October 1885 in Zahorovice, Moravia, Czechoslovakia. He
was married to Marguerite Clothilde Beurrier, born in France in 1893. They got married in Lyon,
France on December 28 1918. They had 2 children, one of which was my father, Serge, and my aunt,
Alberte. My grandparents were living in France when my father was born in 1919. My grand mother died
in 1952 in France. My grandfather was a professor of mathematics and also join the army during the

All we know is that after World War II, he got on a cruise ship to come to America and we never heard
from him again. I would like to know what happened to him, even though I know he must unlikely be alive
today, but where did he go and why? Where is he buried and how did he die? And most important of all, if
he started a new family in a new country. In that case it means that I have aunts, uncles, cousins
somewhere out there. If there is someone who knew him, please answer this e-mail.

Researching: CMOLIK, KUSBACH, CMOLIK, SOBOTKA, SOBOTKA, SADILEK
Seeking cousins in the United States and/or information about my
grandfather's older brother, Matthew (Matej) Cmolik, born before 1884 in
Rozmital pod Tremcinem, Bohemia to Matej Cmolik and Anny Kusbach. His
mother died in childbirth 26 April 1884, the day my grandfather Vaclav
(James) Cmolik was born (in Rozmital pod Tremcinem, just south of Prague).
My grandfather's baptism was by a Catholic priest. The baby was raised by
Kusbach relatives. All that is known of Matej Cmolik, father of Matthew
(Matej) and Vaclav (James), is that he had only one arm - and that contact
with him was lost when he left the Rozmital area. My grandfather married
Marie Sobotka (daughter of Frantisek Sobotka and Marie Sadilek) in Rozmital
in 1907. They emigrated to Saskatchewan, Canada in 1911 with their daughter
Rose Cmolik (born in Rozmital 16 October 1909 and baptized Theresa). My
grandfather's brother Matthew Cmolik is believed to have settled in the
United States. Recently turned 90, my aunt recalls no contact between her
family and her uncle Matthew Cmolik. I find no entry for Matthew Cmolik in
the online Social Security index. Research suggestions welcome. With many thanks.

Researching: DAUBEK, KRIZ, MAREK, PETRIK, SPEVACEK, SOYKA, JAUKNER
I am trying to identify the ancestors who may help connect several families of Daubeks here in the USA.
My family's knowledge goes back as far as my great-grandfather, Josef Daubek and my great-
grandmother, Marie Kriz. I know nothing else about them. They had at least one son, my grandfather,
Joseph George Daubek, Sr., and a daughter who married a man whose last name is Marek. My
grandfather was born June 6, 1889. He came to the United States with my great-grandmother in about
1904 from Pilzen or Plaic in what was then the kingdom of Bohemia. Joseph George Daubek Sr. married
Bessie Rose Petrik of Chicago, Illinois, USA. Bessie was born Bozena Ruzena Petrik on May 11, 1891 to
Adolf Petrik and Marie Spevacek Petrik. They had only one child, my father Joseph George Daubek, Jr.,
born on December 23, 1915. He died on September 18, 1996. Another family's knowledge goes back as far
as their great grandfather, Joseph Soyka, the father of their grandmother, Rose Soyka, born on June 9,
1877 in Austria. Rose Soyka married Joseph J. Daubek, born March 13, 1870, in Bohemia. Joseph J.
Daubek's parents were Leopold (Leo) Daubek and Johanna Jaukner. Any more information would be
greatly appreciated.

Researching: KOLARICK, PETRUSKO, VARGO
I am researching my husband's paternal grandparents. His grandfather was John Kolarick, born in 1883,
died in 1971. We were told he came from Czechslovakia, probably at turn of the century, but not if it was
the Czech Republic or Slovakia region. He married Veronica Petrusko or Vargo (not sure of her maiden
name). We also don't know if she was born in US or Slovakia. She was born in the 1890's. They lived in
Ebervale, Pennsylvania, near Hazleton, in Luzerne County. He was probably a coal miner, as there are
strip mines there. They had 12 children: Elizabeth, Anna, Stephen, John, Joseph, Mary, Thomas,
Veronica, Paul, Pauline, Catherine, and Robert. Grandfather was Lutheran, but Grandmother was
probably Catholic, not sure if Roman or Greek. We don't know what churches they attended. We are
trying to locate the area in the Czech Republic or Slovakia where these surnames originated. If any
one has any help or suggestions they can give, it will be greatly appreciated. We don't know if either of
them had any siblings or other family that may still be in the area, or could help us. We never knew if
there were other relatives that came from Europe, etc. Also, as far as we know, this is the only spelling of
the surname. If anyone knows anything that can help us out there, please e-mail me. Thank you in
advance for your help.
