My wife's father was Karl Glaser, who came to New Jersey from what we thought was spelled Saaz in Czechoslovakia, in the early 1900s along with 5 brothers and mother at separate times. The village name was apparently changed from Saaz to Zatec. Karl's mother's maiden name was Anna Kohn, born in 1854 in Hostokyrje. Her father was Abraham Kohn. She had two brothers, Josef and Emil.. She died in NJ in 1928. Anna's mother's maiden name was Maria Abeles, daughter of Markus Abeles. Maria's mother's maiden name was Rosalia Russ. One of Karl's brothers was born in Vetrusice, Bohemia. The Kohn family's records are registered in Rakovnik. Anna married Josef Glaser who, upon his death in 1889, was listed as living in Ceradice. Josef's father was Gutmann Glaser, a shopkeeper in Ceradice, the son of David Glaser, a butcher in Ceradice. David's wife was Sara, maiden name Ekstein. Joseph's mother was Theresia, the daughter of Leopold Freund from Treskovice. Leopold's wife's maiden name was Ewa Langstein from Postoloprty. What information can you provide?

The family apparently settled and farmed around Luzerne (Lucerne?), Pennsylvania, U.S.A, as the eldest son John Mathias married Margaret Ann Siglin at Luzerne January 21, 1866. John Mathias and Ann then moved to northeast Iowa and farmed in Fayette County for the rest of their lives, raising eight children. The Iowa connection has been worked out by one of my cousins. He purchased land in 1883, in Butler County, Nebraska. He married Anna Havlik in 1885, they had a son named Joseph Zeleny Jr., 3-10-1886. Anna (Havlik)Zeleny died when he was very young. Anna Havlik's parents were Joseph HAVLIK and Anna Krontil. Joseph Sr. married Mary Tupy in 1888, in Colfax County, NE I have been told the Petr surname is somehow related to the Zeleny surname.
