Children are Johann Bilek (born May 7, 1820 in Budweis (Budejovic, Czech). He married Maria Kubesch (born Jan. 9, 1823 . Johann and Maria immigratd to the US (via New York) Sept. 7, 1861. Looking for the surname Saum. Ancestor Mathias Sahm, a blacksmith, b. 1776 and immigrated to Alsace, France before 1809, is said to have been from the village of Saubsdorf. There is a village by that name in the Jesenik district of the Czech Republic. During his life Mathias Saum claimed he was from the Hungary, Silesia and the Austrian Empire. Searching for decendents of Mary M. Merkwan born 6-5-1871 and Theresa Merkwan born 12-14-1873 both girls born in Trevorton, PA to Joseph Merkwan and Theresa Jusko. Also searching for decendents of Rose K. Kimmel (Kimmbel) born 3-25-1876 and Elizabeth K. Kimmel (Kimmbel) born 7-2-1874 both girls born in Trevorton, PA to John Kimmle (Kimmbel) and Elizabeth Merkwan. Information taken from St. Patrick's Catholic Church records in Trevorton, PA. No other information is known about these people. My great-great grandfather John Merkwan also lived in Trevorton, PA for a short time and then moved to Tabor, South Dakota. All Merkwans in America are decended from John Merkwan.

Seeking information on Matej Riha, b abt 1865. His son, Josef Riha, b 1885 in Dekanovice, Austria, immigrated to the US at about age 16. A cousin of Josef, named Rychesky, owned a flour mill in Brataslava. Matej later remarried and had 5 more children, Moric, Jan, Frantiska, Vaclav and Frantisek. Jan "John" Cernin and Anna Pelcova (b. abt. 1855 in Bohemia) immigrated to the U.S. in 1882 from Vysoki Myto, Bohemia, Austria to Clarkson (a Czech community), Colfax Co., Nebraska, USA. They had 7 children: Marie b. 01 April 1876 (Bohemia), John b. 02 May 1882 (Bohemia), Joseph b. 02 March 1883 (Colfax Co., NE), Anna b. 11 Nov. 1884 (Colfax Co., NE), Frances b. 1890 (Colfax Co., NE), Emily b. ?, and James b. ?. There was an eighth child born to Anna Cernin, Frank (Colfax Co., NE). The Cernins divorced at least 6 months prior to September 1899. Mrs. Anna Cernin married Jan "John" Koudelka in September 1899 in Colfax Co., NE. They had a daughter, Paulina, b. 30 July 1900. Jan Koudelka's parents were Pavel and Frantiska Kpodelka from Bohemia. Jan Koudelka was born in Bohemia abt. 1846-48. Would greatly appreciate information.or assistance in researching these surnames either in the U.S. or overseas. Paulina Koudelka married Josef Veltrasky in 1916 in Colfax Co., NE (of Bohemian ancestry) from Daruvar, Yugoslavia. Josef Veltrausky was born in August 1893 in Daruvar, Yugoslavia. Josef Veltrusky's parents were Franjo Veltrusky and Marija Ledvinka. Josef Veltrasky Americanized his name to Joseph Weltrauski about 1930.

Researching: POKASTY
Looking for information on a family named Pokasty who possibly emigrated from the village of Chvalenice, County of Blovice in the District of Pilsen in 1878. Pokasty is probably an Americanized version of a Czech name. The names of the family members were James and Mary Anna Pokasty and children, James, Mary, and Anna. Family oral history tells us that they came through Hamburg to New York, althought we have never been able to find them listed on a passenger list. They settled in Quarry, Iowa. Thanks for your help.

My grandfather Matej Jarolimek, who changed the spelling of his name to Yarolimek when he and his family was naturalized on 15 Mar 1909, came to Winona county, Minnesota in the Summer/Fall of 1904. His wife, Mary Dragoun, arrived in Winona county in Nov 1904 with her father-in-law Joseph Jarolimek, her seven children, sister Bertha (married name Kiral), and her sister's girlfriend. The family resided in Winona county (Wiscoy Valley, Rupprecht's Valley, town of Rollingstone and the city of Winona) their entire life. There were nine boys (Adolph, Alois, Ben, Ed, Frank, Fred, George, Jerry, Joseph) and five girls (Agnes Peck, Emma Drenckhahn, Marie Jarolimek, Mary Brueske, Rose Peshon) born to the family. All the children were raised in Winona county with the exception of Marie who died in Bohemia (Jablonna/Primbram area) before the family emmigrated. Ancestry surnames (all from Bohemia) prior to my grandparents arrival in the U.S. are: Buchra, Cerny, Kubat & Jarolimek.

I am researching these faimilies. Alois Vorel came to America in1902. Soon to follow were his brother Anton and sisters Anna and Aloizie. There was a sister Marie (Vorel) Novotny and a brother Karel Vorel that stayed in the Czech Republic. I am looking for more information on the family in Europe. I believe they are from the Prague area. Joseph and Marie (Streba) Uher came to America in 1869, possibly from the area of Pisek, Bohemia. I am not sure if either of them had any brothers or sisters, either left behind or that joined them at a later date. They came with there family Anna/John Adamek, Joseph/Anna Uher, John, Marie, Thomas and Josephine (Julia). Julia married a man by the name of John Ledinsky. I am also looking for information on them. My great-grandmother was named Julie Swoboda and came originally from Czechoslovakia sometime in the late 1800s. I am not sure if her maiden name is Swoboda. I was quite possibly her married name. I remember hearing that her husband's name was Joe Swoboda. They lived in Nebraska. At some point, they divorced. They did have a daughter (my grandmother), Eleanor, who was born in 1915 and died in Northern California in 1997. I would like to find any possible ancestors.

He immigrated to the U.S. in 1888 with his wife Anna, born in Bohemia in October 1857, his sons Ernst, born December 1880, Erhard, born February 1885, and his daughter, Mary, born October 1888. They had two children after immigration, Anna, born December 1, 1890 and Alouisa (Elizabeth) born March 1893, both born in Wisconsin. They lived in Oshkosh, Winnebago County, Wisconsin. Researching: CZEDIK, CZEDIK-EYSENBERG
My name is Dr. Georg Czedik-Eysenberg. I live in Austria. As far as I know, my ancestor Johann Wenzel Czedik (1794-1892) was born in North Bohemia (Oberleutensdorf, I do not know what the village is called now). His ancestors have lived in Bohemia, too: In Aussig Usti n.L., Krammel, Klostergrab, Istebnic, Karlstein, Sedlcan. I know some living Czedik's (in Hungary, Netherlands, Germany and U.S.A.) and we think that we are related, but we are not sure. I am just now trying to track my roots back into Czechoslovakia. My last name is Dulin. I don't know how to make a connection to a Czech name. I am researching the Kostohryz and Bednar lines. My great-great-grandfather was Jan Kostohryz, b., June 3, 1868, Bohemia, d., July 22, 1924, Baltimore, MD, m., Kristina Bednar, b., Feb 25, 1865, Bohemia, d., Jan 2, 1933, Baltimore, MD. They immigrated to the USA in 1892. Jan had a sister, Marie Kostohryz, b., 1865, Bohemia, d., 1937., Baltimore, MD, m., Vaclav Klima, b., 18 Nrezna 1863, Bohemia, d., 20 Unora 1899, Baltimore, MD. They immigrated to the USA in 1883. Jan also had a brother, Frank Kostohryz, b. May 1876 in Bohemia, d., Nov 17, 1943, Baltimore. Some of Kristina Bednar's siblings also came to the USA, but settled in Wisconsin. I might also be related to some Pelikans who settled in Baltimore. All of the people mentioned above came from the Prague region.

I am searching the Pelz and Walgonia Family from Bohemia. Theresa Walgonia was born in Bohemia Sept. 10 1840 and left for Canada in c.1885. Francis and Joseph Pelz left a few years earlier. Researching the names: Frantisek Romportl and Vencencie Buchty. My wife's great- grandparents arrived in America around 1882-83. They were from Oldris and Borovice. I am trying to find out any information on a relative of mine named Frantisek Ondrisek The following information I have is from the Baptismal book at the church of Tezouve, village of Labut. He was born on 4/18/1872 in Labut, County of Kyjovin, Moravia, Czechoslovkia. His father's name was Stephan Ondrisek, son of Florian Ondrisek. Both were farmers in the village of Labut. His mother's name was Agnes, daughter of Joseph Mikulik. He was a farmer in Hostejov. The priest that conducted his baptism was Theodor Vymetal. Researching the name Smolek. Albert and Anna (Steiner) Smolek immigrated to the US, ca 1857-1864, through Canada and settled in Wisconsin for 15 years. The family then moved to Chicago IL and were there until ca 1900, when they moved to North Judson, IN. Albert and Anna had a son, Joseph. Researching: KODELKA, LINHART
Members of this family were left in Lidice while other family members came to America and settled in Saginaw, Mi. in or around 1907. Karl and Marie Kodelka had 10 children. The maiden name of Marie is Linhart. Karl was a landowner, a mill owner and also a Count. Five children of that family, who came to America, are Johanna, Esther, Mary, Clara and Frank. Five others did not leave Czechoslavakia. We are seeking any relative of this family. They are Bohemian. The father of Karl (Carl) was Bernard Kodelka. Johanna was age 9 when brought to this country. Please add my name to your list of surnames. The Seda family was from a small town north of Prague with a name that sounded like "Bambouch". My grandfather was Thomas, as am I, and my father before me. Grandfather came to the Pittsburgh area and with his wife and relative (Fredrik, Fredreich, Friedrick) opened a grocery and slaughter house in Claridge,PA.
