Researching: MACHACEK, KACINA, WAGNER
I seek data about the Machacek family's origins in Bohemia or Moravia. My great-grandfather was named Jan (pronounced "Yon") "John" Machacek, born somewhere in Bohemia, I think (about 50 miles east of Prague?) around the year 1840. He emigrated to the United States with his wife Frantiska ("Frances") [Kacina] Machacek and their daughter Antonia in the late 1800s, settling near Tabor, South Dakota around 1880-1890. He died in 1935 (age 95) and is buried in the Tabor, SD, cemetery at St. Wenceslaus Church. Their only daughter, Antonia (Antonie) Machacek married my grandfather, Anton Wagner (that's right--Anton and Antonia) in 1892. That makes me 1/2 Bohemian Czech.

Researching: MADAR
I'm living in Paris - France and I'm 37 years old. I was searching any roots for the family name of my mother Madar (because both of my parents have died). Before coming to France, I know that my mother originated from a migrant family living in Tunisia (Djerba) where they stayed for many years. But, before that time, I don't know from where her family could have come. May be from Slovakia or Hungary. Perhaps, could you have any information about the origins of this name. If so, it's very important for me to get these information. Thank you very much for any answer.

I have information on the family from time of arrival on census of 1900 states 1880--they were in Chicago in 1882- 1884 in Wilson Twp. Kansas the Czech capital of Kansas--Ellsworth county and in 1892 in Oklahoma land run and homesteaded farm in Okla. hope I can get some kind of information that would connect into old country of Bohemia.
