Researching: KOSC, MURCKO, KANUCH
I am looking for information on John Kosc who was born in Plavec (which is now right next to Austria) probably in the 1840's. He married Elizabeth Murcko from Plavec. She was probably born in the 1840's and they probably married in the 1860's in Plavec. They had a daughter, Elizabeth, born 4/1/1866 in Plavec. She married Stephen Kanuch of Plavec sometimes in the late 1880's.They had a son John Kanuch born 5/28/1890 in Plavec. They then emigrated to the US and settled in New Castle Delaware. Shortly after they went back to Czechoslovakia but returned to the US in 1895 when their daughter Mary was born 4/3/1895 aboard ship. Three more children followed: Agnes 10/8/1897, Peter 6/29/1902, and Frank 8/6/1904 and I think they were all born in Delaware. Somewhere between 1904 and 1915 the Settled in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Researching: STUPKA, HNELECKA
I am researching the surnames Stupka and Hnelecka both of Bohemia. Unfortunately, at this point, I know very little, but here goes: My grandmother, Caroline (or Carolyn) Stupka was born in LaCrosse WI on April 27, 1890. According to her birth certificate her father's name is Frank Stupka and her mother's name is Mary Hnelecka, both of Bohemia. She had siblings: Emil Frank Stupka, and Annie Jeffana Mary Stupka. I have no information about how they got from Bohemia to the US (or when). I also don't know where in Bohemia they were from. I suspect they were Roman Catholic because my grandmother was studying to be a Catholic nun before she left the convent ( I don't know which convent, but I do have access to a picture of her in her habit) to get married.

Researching: SPICKA
I'm interested in finding out more about my surname - Spicka. I'm aware that there are nearly 80 people listed in the YAHOO People Search with the name Spicka, but I don't know if any of us are related. I also know that Spicka is a fairly common name around Prague, similar to Smith or Jones here. My Grandfather was Peter J. Spicka and he came from Prague. He came to the U.S. in the early 1900's and went on to Chicago. He contacted his wife in Prague and told her to join him and to bring their two children, Mary and Charles (my Father). My Grandfather loved it in the U.S. of A. Peter got a job in a foundry and bought a home in Michigan City, Indiana. My Grandparents had four children; Mary, Charles, Joe, and Ann. My Aunt Ann is still living in Dallas, TX. She can still speak and read Czech. I sent my Aunt a printout of the Web page listing of the name Spicka and she's trying to see if there's any link among the nearly 80 Spicka's. I have visited Ellis Island and I saw the microfilm copy of the manifest for the ship that brought my Father to the U.S. It still amazes me how my Grandmother, who did not speak English, made it across Europe to the port and then through Ellis Island and on to Chicago. Truly fantastic. My Father left Indiana for Ohio when he was ready for college. He first went to Toledo and then to Dayton where he met and married my Mother. My Aunt Mary met and married a man who was from Chicago. My Uncle Joe went to Dayton to work with my Father in the coffee business. My Aunt Ann married a professor from Michigan State University and they settled in East Lansing, Michigan with their children. Both my Mother and Father are deceased and they are buried in Dayton. I'm open to any suggestions you might have on where to go from here. I do want to learn more about my heritage and my Czech name Spicka.

Anton and Katherina had 4 children; Katherina, Anna, Charles (b. Feb. 1884 - d. Sept. 7, 1949) and Joseph (b. May 1887). Sons Charles and Joseph were born in New York. Researching: VONDRASEK, DUBSKY, VOJECH, AKSAMIT, LEVY, CAJTHAML
Researching above names from town of Kozlany ( with a hatchek over the Z), located north of Plzen and 4km from Kralovice. I have found several people in the US researching some of these names from towns in the same general area. I know of a relative in Australia whose Vondrasek ancestor went to Praha, and a Dubsky relative who married a Cajthaml in Kozlany whose offspring (cousin of my grandfather) came to the US. I have been able to go back to 1801 in Plzen archives with my Kozlany Vondrasek, but maybe someone out there who has the keys to find where this line originated. The Vondrasek name is relatively common in the US, compared to almost all of the other names I am researching. I think members of this family has been coming to the US for more generations back than the ones closest to me, and heading to places like Nebraska, Iowa, New York, and Chicago. If anyone is researching any ancestors with any of these names from the Plzen-Sever ("North Plzen") area, I would like to exchange information with you - my goal is to try to put together a tree of these lines that incorporates all possible information.
