This project is based on the establishment of a permanent
exhibition on Celtic history in Bratislava, towards the year 2000.
It would be a memorial to the existence of a Celtic oppidum, a
center of their economic and political power over a vast area,
built 2000 years ago on the place of today Slovak capital.
The Municipal Institute
for Monument Preservation, the Municipal Museum, the Slovak
National Museum and the Slovak Archaeological Institute, together
own an enormous collection of findings belonging to this period.
The exhibition will attempt to present the most significant
artifacts in a complex form to the general public. It may also
include a computer visualization and animation program, which will
recreate theoretical models of possible developments of a Celtic
oppidum, based on the results of archeological excavations and
scientific research.
Such a presentation could offer children and
young people the opportunity to learn about the ancient history of
Bratislava in an attractive and informal way.
Estimated costs: 60 000 $
The great heritage of the La Tene culture the Celts bequeathed us,
according to the latest archaeological excavations, are for example
the mass production of pottery on a quick potter's wheel, they also
diffused knowledge of producing various artifacts of iron and also
the art of coin-stamping and money-trade.
