
Kalacha Dough

All of these recipes were given to me by my Grandmother Julianna Lazorik Barnyik Ambrisko, who was born in Kosicka Bela, Slovakia on June 15, 1882. I have had them since I was twelve, when I watched her make all this on holidays.... now I do...
Aunt Mary Barnick's Kalacha Dough
6-7 cups sifted flour
2 cups shortening
1/2 teasp salt
Mix above together well
Make a well in center
In bowl mix 2 yeast cakes to 1/2 cup water stir cover wait 10 minutes
Then mix in 2 eggs, 1 cup evaporated milk
Gradually pour into well of flour mixture, knead together
Put into greased bowl cover put in frig for 1 hr or overnight
roll out in sugar / use any good filling
bake 350 F for 20 minutes
