Researching: BABELLA, VILAM, WILLIAM
My name is Thomas (Tom) William...born in Montreal Que., 10/10/39..my parents were from the old country, the above names are the ones I most remember about...my mother was Anna Babella, born in August, 1899 and my father was Jan Vilim, born in june/1900..my oldest brother was Frantisek (Frank) born around 1920; was a Vilim...when dad emigrated to Montreal Que. Canada, he landed a job and because of the difficulty with the language, changed the family name to William.. sometime in the 20's or 30"s,..all 3 of the mentioned are now dead... Mom and Dad,both came from large families.i.e., 8-12 children which suggest there are a lot of cousins my age with the surname Baella or Vilim....at this pont of family, I have one surviving brother living in Motreal, his name being Florian William...he and I were both born with the William surname....this is as much as i can recall,if there is anyone with any remote connection or recollection of the names,Babella,Vilim...please let me know......I'm thinking of planning a trip to Slovakia in aug/sept of 2001 and would like to visit where my parents were born etc. and meet any long lost relative..hope to hear from someone

Hello, my surname is Kadas. I live in Pennsylvania (USA). I am not certain from where in Slovakia my ancestors came but I have been told that the village was spelled/sounded like 'Rabatotfalu'. (Apparently, he had seen a birth certificate or some other official document that showed our surname as being Kodash.) Any assistance would be appreciated greatly. Thank you.
