Researching: IWANYK, SYWAK, KOWALCHIK
I am looking for my mother's birth certificate. She was born in Kosice, Czechoslovakia on March 15, 1930 or 1932. Her name is Marija Anne Iwanyk , she thinks, but her mother's name is Mania Sywak and her father's name is Ianoch Kowalchik. Also if you have an record on her it will help? My mother was taken to Poland when she was very young and then the Germans came and took her to Germany to work on the farm during the war. She doesn't have any papers with her, only what was told to her. I am not sure that I am writing to the right place but I am willing to try and locate any information for my mother. Thanking you in advance for your co-operation.

Researching: FEDORONKO, TKACIK, PAJTAS, KRAMAR - FEDERINKO, THACHIK, PAYTASH, KRAMER
This is an updated search notice. The first group of names shows the original spellings and the second the "Americanized" spellings. Thanks to the iarelative forum and my June 2000 trip to Slovakia, I have nearly completed my Fedoronko family history. All of grandparents were from the Bardejov / Svidnik area of Slovakia. Paternal GF (John Fedoronko) from Hrabovcik and his wife (Anna Tkacik) from Duplin. Maternal GF (Peter Pajtas) and GM (Suzanna Kramar) both from Malcov. My big task is to establish the correct relationship between John and Peter Fedoronko. John came to the USA (Baltimore) on the Rhein II in 1902 and Peter (married to Suzanna Gajdos of Duplin) came on the Gera in 1907 (also thru Baltimore). They both lived in Clymer, PA until Peter moved his family to the Chicago area. I am told this move happened in the 1930 timeframe. So, all of you Fedoronkos in the upper midwest and Canada please help, if you can. I am also trying to establish the connections to the Fedoronkos in the NY / Connecticut area along with a connection to the Fedoronkos in the North Carolina area. I have some info/ties on the northeast group but nothing on the southern group. Again, please help if you can. I have lots of pictures and information from my June trip that I'm more than willing to share with family. I'll be turning my attention to the Pajtas / Paytash family history shortly. As with the Fedoronko side, I have gathered a lot of info on the Pajtas side too. For those that I (John F. Federinko) have had previous contact. Z Bohom!

Researching: HALCIN, STOLAR
I am the son of a Halcin. My mothers maiden name was Alice Halcin. In the early 1900's my grandparents made a couple of trips to the USA. and in the 1920's decided to stay in America. So started the Halcin family in Ambridge, Pa.. Steve and Mary Halcin had four daughters that started the Halcin family here and that may be why we are hard to track down. With the generations that have past, there are 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren who don't know where they came from. There are alot of us here that I feel no one knows about. I hope this little bit of information helps you out. Could you please let me know either way. God bless you and keep well. Thank you for taking the time to read this note and hopefully we will have something more to talk about. My grandmother's maiden name was Stolar. I also know that my grandfather had 7 brothers and he did not move here until 1930. When I get more information, I'd be more that happy to write you again. Thank you for the information about the Halcin name and location. I really thought that it was like the Smith name here.

Researching: POZNOVIJA, POZNOVIA
from Perth, Western Australia, and I am a beginner in genealogy, who is trying to find out more about family history. Being a beginner I have found an impassable question, on my first step, and that is the origin of my surname, which is spelled as Poznovija or Poznovia. My ancestors are from Croatia, but the surname is not sound as Croatian one. I have searched many sites with different surnames, from German, Polish, Hungarian, Austrian, Italian, Slovak, Rythenian, Ukrainian, Georgian and others but unsuccessfully. I have never met a surname with ending ...IJA or ..IA, and that confuses me. Recently I was told that my surname could be from Slovakia, more precisely from Bratislava. According to this information in Bratislava is or was a suburb or district with this or very similar name. Since this is the only way that I can check this information, any help would be highly appreciated. Could anyone please help me with some further information? Thank you very much.

I am looking for the translation of Husarik surname in English. What does the name mean? I believe that my family is from the Trencin area, but am not certain. My great grandfather came to US around 1899 or so. His name was Frank Husarik senior, and my grand father was Frank Husarik, junior. My father is Frank Wayne Husarik, and I am Wayne A. Husarik. I am trying to fullfill a lifelong dream of my aunt to find out our ancestory. Where we came from and who are our relatives. My great aunt found some items, but they were lost many years ago. If anyone could point me in the right direction, please do so. I want to know my family roots. Not just for me, but for my children and grandchildren. They should know their family roots and the history if any. Thank you.
