Searching for any information an any of these last names - Trebic, Treibick, Treibic, Trebach, Trebisch, Trebesch. Treibick is my last name but apparently my great-grandfather spelled it differently but not sure how (Probably Trebisch). Family emigrated through Ellis Island close to turn of the century. My great-grandfather worked int he clothing industry in New York for many years. Not much other information. Thank you.

Researching: SZMOLNIK, SMOLNIK
I am interested in finding information regarding the origins of the surname "Szmolnik". I am aware that my ancestry is Hungarian however I do not know the origin of the name. I am told that it could be from Slovakia. Perhaps the surname has been Hungarianised with the inclusion of the "z". The original name may have been Smolnik. Please advise.

Researching: MURCHAK, POKRIOKA, CHUNRCIORK
I am searching for information on my Great-Grandparents. Martin Murchak came to America in 1905 and his wife and daughter came in 1909. We have a copy of the daughter's baptism. Her name was Amalior, and she was baptised in the town of Nova Bystrica (please bear with my interpretations - I cannot speak or read Slovak and I am trying to duplicate what is on the form.). Her mother, my Great-grandmother's name was Evor Pokrioka. And my Great-grandfather's name was Martin Chumrciork. In America, he changed it to Murchak. Any information would be greatly appreciated!! I just got back the death certificate for my Grandmother who was born on 3 November 1872 in Slovakia. However, the city is not too plain and the closest I can make out is that it is Zesho. Researching: WARGO, KRIVDA, ONDERICKO, OLEY, SLANINKA
I am searching for any information about Andrew Wargo,(originally Varga). He immigrated to Braddock, Pennsylvania in 1899. He had brothers, Michael and John. He married Sophia Ondericko Slaninka (her first husband Mike Slaninka was killed at the Edgar Thompson Steel Mill in Braddock, PA). She immigrated to the United States in 1899 under the name of Anna Kuba. Their youngest son, Leo, was my grandfather. Leo married Katherine Krivda in 1929. She was the youngest daughter of Martin Krivda and Elizabeth Oley. My grandmother, Katherine, gave me the names of three possible villages Yablonov, Zabonic, and Spiska. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Researching: KUCHES, KUCES, SEDLACEK, SOLL
My grandfather migrated here around 1910-12, having lived in the area south of the Tatra's. Like many other Slovaks he settled in Pennsylvania and worked in the coal mines around Dubois. Later he and his growing family moved to Cleveland, Ohio. Kuches is the current spelling but you can only guess how it may have been spelled originally. The Sedlacek/Sollocks live in the Meriden, Conn. area. Thanks in advance.

My Grandfather was George Csincsar, born 1885 in Slovakia, married Anna Frajt, also born in 1885. It is possible that the name was spelled Czinczar when they were in Austria (Slovakia). They had 8 children. It is my belief that they came to this country sometime in the 1920's. My Grandfather had a brother, John, who possibly lived in Florida. There is a cousin, possibly Johns' daughter, Pauline Barnhardt, who may live in NJ. We also think there are some relatives in AZ.

My great-grandfather was Andrew Wargo (originally Varga), he immigrated to the United States in 1899. He settled in Braddock, Pennsylvania, near Pittsburgh and worked at the Edgar Thompson Works of the Carnegie Steel Company, and then US Steel. His wife was Sophia Ondericko. She had been previously married to a Michael Slaninka and had one son named Michael Slaninka. Mike senior died in an accident at the mill. Sophia immigrated to the US on Dec. 9, 1899, she entered the country under the name of Anna Kuba. She lists her village as Mocsidlan, and then again in 1940 as Mocolo. Their youngest son, Leo, born in 1909 was my grandfather. My other great-grandfather was Martin Krivda, he immigrated around 1907, he also settled in Braddock, Pennsylvania, and he also went to work at the Edgar Thompson Works. Family word is that he came from the village of Yalonov, Spisska. His wife was Elizabeth Oley. They had three children, the youngest, Cathryn was my grandmother. She married Leo Wargo in October of 1929. Any help will be appreciated.

Researching: WARGO, VARGA, ONDERKO, KRIVDA
I am searching for information on my great grandfather, Andrew Varga. He immigrated to the United States in 1896 and settled in Braddock, Pennsylvania. He married Sophia Onderko Slaninka. She immigrated into New York on 9 December 1899 under the name of Anna Kuba. She also settled in Braddock, PA. Some time before the 1910 Census the name was changed to Wargo. Their youngest son, Leo Wargo, born in 1907 and died in 1989 was my Grandfather. Leo Wargo married Katherine Krivda in 1929. Her parents were Martin Krivda and Elizabeth Oley. I once heard that they were from Spiska, or Zabonic. They immigrated in 1907, and settled in Braddock, PA . Their only son Steven married, had 10 children and settled in McKeesport, PA. Martin Krivda was naturalized in 1924. Leo Wargo and Katherine Krivda produced three children, Clarence Martin, Lilian, and Katherine. Clarence 'Climey' Wargo taught and coached at St. Thomas High School in Braddock, Pennsylvania. He passed away on 21 December 1998. Lilian married William Gura of Braddock, and they had three sons, Matthew, William and Mark. Katherine married Joseph Sabol of North Braddock and they also had three children, Paul, Daniel, and Barbara. Clarence married Marion Reichert of Braddock and they had seven children, Dennis, Karen, Jeffrey, Janice, Gary, Kathleen, and Maureen. Any information will be greatly appreciated
