Researching: TUROCI, KNAT, KRNATO, HNAT
I am looking for relatives of Matthew, John, and Paul Turoci who came to the U.S. in the late 1800's. I have a picture of my great grandfather, Paul with his daughter (sister to the above) and several children. I am also searching for the name Knat (I am not sure of the spelling, it could be Hnat). I have my grandparents' certificate of marriage which lists his name as Paul Turocy and hers as Ann Krnato. They were married in a Catholic Church (in this country, I think somewhere in Pennsylvania) on what looks like Dec. 13, 1910. On my father's birth certificate provided by the state (dad was born at home) it lists his mother's name Ann Krnato in one place and Anna Knat in another. Paul was born in 1872 and died in 1930 according to the grave marker in Clinton, Indiana. Anna was born in 1889 and died in 1922 according to the same. John, (Paul's brother) was born in 1868 and died in 1956 according to the same marker. Paul and John settled in Clinton, Indiana. Their brother Matthew went traveling and ended up back in Slovakia. There was correspondence until World War II. Those letters were burned when John died. My grandmother had relatives in Connecticut (Stratford or Bridgeport). I have a picture that has Eperjes on the back. Someone told me this is the Hungarian name for Presov. Is this correct?

I am looking for information on my Grandparents, Frank Senz born in Paripas on July 13, 1871, and Susanne Zunna, born Jan. 12, 1875. I have no birthplace. They moved to the USA in 1905 from Hungary, with his brothers Mike Senz and Florian Senz. Then they moved to Canada in 1912.

Researching: KUFTIC, KUCHTIK, CHLEBEK
I am interested in any information on my grandparents and relatives still in Slovakia. My grandfather was Andrej Kuchtik, born 9 Dec 1872, at Zborov nad Bystricou. His wife, my grandmother, was Apolonia Chlebek, born 8 Feb 1876, at Krasno nad Kysucou. They married in Slovakia 15 Jun 1894 and emigrated to Snowshoe, Pennsylvania, about 1902. They settled, raised a family in Nanty Glo, Pennsylvania, and died there. I am really interested in finding their port of entry and the name of the ship. I understand my grandfather come over first, stayed for a while, returned to Slovakia, and returned to Pennsylvania with his wife and child. I have other information and documents, but will wait to see what response I receive from this initial posting.

Researching: KOZIC, KOZICH, TYRPAK, TIRPAK, MELNITSKI, MANAREK
Looking for information on relatives of John (Kozic) Kozich, married to Mary (Maria Tyrpak) Tirpak, province of Slovenska, Diocese of Presov. The town, I believe, was Kochanovce. Mary was born in 1883. They were married in 1901 and resided on Warner St., Midvale, Plains Twp., Plains, PA. Mary had 3 brothers, John of Dunora, PA; Michael of Plains (Midvale)PA; Andrew of Canada (he later went back to Europe); and a sister, Anna who stayed in the old country. John had 3 brothers, George, Plains (Midvale),PA; Andrew, Wilkes-Barre,PA; Michael, Dallas,PA; And 2 sisters, Elizabeth Wallace, Plains, PA; Mary Melnitski Manarek, Wyoming, PA. Essentially they all lived within 15 miles of each other. Mary's father was supposedly a burgess of the town the family originated from in the Old Country. They were members of St. Mary's Greek Catholic Church on N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, PA. Father Nicholas Chopey was the paster. John Kozich was involved with the Greek Catholic Union (Homestead, PA) and an officer of the Union sometime prior to his death in 1930. They had 12 children, 4 of whom are living. Any information as to where these towns are located (supposedly in or near the Carpathian Mountains) and relatives of these people would be greatly appreciated.

Researching: TOMCSO, TOMCHO, CARNEGA, LOTSY, KOHATRA
I am looking to share Tomcho / Carnega info... My grandfather, Peter Tomcho was born in a village called Nixne Domininci, Austria-Hungary in 1875... he married a woman, had 4 children, Josef, Mary, Mika and Peter Jr... his wife died and he re-married Anna Carnega in Uzhorod... the family came to America, Peter first in 1909, Anna and three of the children in 1911... Josef stayed behind with the grandparents... Peter's father was George Tomcho married to Mary (Lotsy)... family stories reveal the Tomchos were sheepherders in the old country... Anna grew up in a village called Huta in Hungary... there is little known about the family of the old country... very few Tomchos are found... anyone knowing of this surname or family are encouraged to contact me... I have Anna's Baptismal papers from the old country (written in Slovak-father's name Micheal, mother's name Maria (Kohatra) and Peter's naturalization papers... the Hungarian spelling on the papers is Tomsco changed in court to Tomcho.
