Researching: TIRPAK
I am looking for information about the Tirpak family. The surname was shortened when my
grandfather came to the United States. My father was born in 1910 and my grandfather in
1874. My grandfather had a twin brother who may also have immigrated to the United States.
We did have relatives in Pennsylvania and may still have relatives in the Czech Republic.
We apparently are not related to the Tripaks in Groton Connecticut. Any information will be

I am researching my Slovak ancestors who came to the US about 1904. Maria Sust (Sustova)
was born 10 August 1885 in Cemerne' (Vranov nad Topl'ou). Her parents were Jan Sust and Maria
Sustova. She also had a sister Helana, born 24 June 1894. Maria Sust married Ferdinand R.
Vanke (Wanke) who was born in 1878 in Slovakia, possibly in Krakovan (Krakovany). His
birthplace is listed as Trencianska, Slovakia on his death certificate. On his application
for citizenship, the town of Cejejtye is listed. I would appreciate hearing from anyone
who has information about these towns or surnames.

I am looking for persons related to the former Susan Bartko. I believe
she came from Dubinne? in Saros Co. This is my Great-grandmother, she
then came to America in 1902 and Married my Great-grandfather Joannes
Paranich (Paranac). They resided in Japan / Jeddo near Freeland, Pa. In
about 1925-26, they moved up the road to Oakdale and lived there until
they both passed on in 1959.

I am looking for any info regarding the Stanko family from Zemplin County,
Slovakia. My grandfather emmigrated to the U.S. in the late 1890's- early 1900's. John
Stanko originally settled in Pittsburgh, Pa., area where he married my grandmother
Mary Svarc of Kosice, Slovakia. They eventually relocated near Cambridge,
Ohio. He died in Cleveland, Ohio August, 1951. Marriage certificate shows
spelling of last name as Sztanko. Also, looking for info on Svarc family from

Researching: MOYTA, MOJTA, MIKA, TIRPAK
I am John Moyta, original Slovak spelling Jan Mojta or Hungarian, Mojta
Janos. I am first generation American. Family roots are Samudovce
(Hungarian Samogy) near Michalovce (Mocarany). Earliest known (GGF)
Michal Mojta 1825, Anna Bohac 1830,
(GF)Jan Moyta 1855, Maria Mika 1857, (F) Jan Mojta 1883, Alzbeta Tirpak
1890. My father Anglecized the name to John Moyta around the turn of the
Century and he brought his brothers over after WWI. Andrej and Michal.
The decendents of these three are the only know Moytas in U.S. However
I have found other Moytas in the WHITE pages etc, and some Mojtas.
After reading Michners "Poland", I am convinced the origin of the name
is in Poland. Todate, accessing church records in the region have not
revealed any new information other than what I have.

I live in New York. My grandmother, Minka Hrasar, was
born in Ihan in 1898. She came to America around 1922 (?). In her travel
papers, there was a "passport" with her photo on it and the photo and
signature of a child, Cyril (?) Stanislav!!! No one in my family knows who
this was or why he was traveling with my grandmother. You state that you
have the birth and baptism records of 40 members who emigrated to America and
have extended most families back at least one generation. Perhaps you can
help with my search. In addition to trying to find out about Cyril
Stanislav, I am also searching for surnames Hrasar, Vidensek, Majdic,
Sarc/Sarec. Any help you can offer is appreciated and I will compensate.

My grandparents: Mary (Porubskyo (Pancurak) Kmetz and George Kmetz originated in Bodganovec,
Slovakia. She was born in 1891. George's parents immigrated to New Jersey, but he went "back home"
to Slovakia to marry Mary, who was 19 years old. They were Roman Catholic.
They moved to Streator, Illionis, where George worked at the Owens-Illinois glass factory. Mary was a
homemaker, who had 4 children: Mary, Margaret, John and Rita. I have documentation for Illinois, but
need information for New Jersey or Slovakia.

We are starting to construct a family tree and although we are spelled
Fetchko we know the name was spelled Fecko with an accent over the "c"
to make a "ch" sound. We are trying to find brothers of Peter Joseph Fetchko from Stropkove,

I am looking for descendants of Gurkas, who were from the village of Slovenska Ves (or actually Vojnany,
a subvillage a few kms away). Slovenska was earlier known as Windschendorf and Totfalu. Vojnany was
earlier known as Krig. I am also looking for descendants of Kupskys, who were from the village of Jurske
(earlier known as Sankt Girgen). These villages are just north of Kezmarok in north central Slovakia.

Lawrence (Rolenc) DRUDIK, born 1867, came to Lawrence/Deweese, Nebraska before 1888. He married
Anna Franz, daughter of Peter Franz and Madgelene Sibulta. Rolence' parents were Johan Drudik, b
1837 and Marie Svobada, b 1843. Johan and Marie came to US with son Joseph in 1904. Another son
