Researching Vadas / Adams / Potocsynak / Vargo Family. Our family is from the Presov and Kosice areas of eastern Slovakia. John Adams and Barbara Potocsynak Adams left Solivar to work for work in the Wilkes-Barre PA area in the mid 1880's. They returned to Solivar for 8 to 10 years before returning to the US around 1900. The family settled in McKessport (Port Vue, Coal Valley & Jefferson Township) PA. In 1901 their daughter Barbara Adams married Andrew Vadas. His parents were Andrew Vadas and Mary Vargo who had emigrated from Kosice to the McKeesport/PortVue area sometime prior to 1890. I am interested in making contact with others researching these surnames &/or villages. I am trying to locate information as to where my grandparents came from in Czechoslovakia; my grandfather's name was Michael Hajducko, and he had one brother named Paul, possibly another named Joseph who I believe went to Canada. My grandfather was also supposed to be a fraternal twin, born November 1892. He came to this country during WWI and served in the army here. My grandmother was Marie Pandos, and she is supposed to have been born somewhere in the Carpathian Mts. She was born in 1897 and arrived somewhere on the East Coast in steerage with her parents, who were both born in Austria-Hungary.

Ferdinand married his first wife in 1866 Sophia Schmotzer. Ferdinand's second wife is Magdalene Friedl (born July 12, 1851 Ober-Metzenseifen). They married February 13, 1870 in Ober-Metzenseifen. Her father was John Friedl and Magdalena (surname unknown). Ferdinand & Magdalene emigrated to Cleveland, Ohio, USA in 1873.
