Researching: VADAS, ADAMS, POTOCSYNAK, VARGO
Researching Vadas / Adams / Potocsynak / Vargo Family. Our family is from the Presov and Kosice areas of eastern Slovakia. John Adams and Barbara Potocsynak Adams left Solivar to work for work in the Wilkes-Barre PA area in the mid 1880's. They returned to Solivar for 8 to 10 years before returning to the US around 1900. The family settled in McKessport (Port Vue, Coal Valley & Jefferson Township) PA. In 1901 their daughter Barbara Adams married Andrew Vadas. His parents were Andrew Vadas and Mary Vargo who had emigrated from Kosice to the McKeesport/PortVue area sometime prior to 1890. I am interested in making contact with others researching these surnames &/or villages. The Villages (Surnames from that village) are: Bertotovce (Adams, Dugasz, Sztasik); Solivar (Potocsynak/Potersnak, Sebej); Dulova Ves (Potocsynak/ Potersnak); Sucha Dolina (Vargo); Lobovec(Vargo, Butar,); Ploske/ Lapispatak (Vadas, Mizak); Kosice (Vadas); Zdana (Vargo, Mesar, Veres); Niz Mysla (Veres).

I am trying to locate information as to where my grandparents came from in Czechoslovakia; my grandfather's name was Michael Hajducko, and he had one brother named Paul, possibly another named Joseph who I believe went to Canada. My grandfather was also supposed to be a fraternal twin, born November 1892. He came to this country during WWI and served in the army here. My grandmother was Marie Pandos, and she is supposed to have been born somewhere in the Carpathian Mts. She was born in 1897 and arrived somewhere on the East Coast in steerage with her parents, who were both born in Austria-Hungary.

Researching Moenich (Monich), Friedl, Schmotzer, Schuster, Klein, Grentzer, and Schmoczer. Researching Metzenseifen. My great-great grandfather Ferdinand Moenich was born December 6, 1842 in Ober-Metzenseifen. His father is Georgius Monich and mother is Catharina Schmotzer both born in Ober-Metzenseifen. Ferdinand married his first wife in 1866 Sophia Schmotzer. Ferdinand's second wife is Magdalene Friedl (born July 12, 1851 Ober-Metzenseifen). They married February 13, 1870 in Ober-Metzenseifen. Her father was John Friedl and Magdalena (surname unknown). Ferdinand & Magdalene emigrated to Cleveland, Ohio, USA in 1873.

Searching for the family of John Lukacs who was born in Horna. His family immigrated to the US and settled in either Mckeesport or Mckeesrock, PA. He was some type of construction worker at the time he married my grandmother in Cleveland, Ohio in 1918. He died in 1927 and his only 2 remaining children were so young when he died that they do not remember much. Are there any relatives around who may remember the family?

Names are from the Zemplin County area. Prokopchak and Uram names are from the Habura village. Guzak and Mley are from the Cabiny village. Hamulak and Krajnak are from the Kransy Brod village we believe. The Secunda/Sekunda name is the one name that is a mystery. My grandfather Josef Sekunda emmigrated to Butler,PA in 1910. Three of my great grandparents came to America around the turn of the century. They all came from the little village of Hybe in Slovakia. My maternal grandfather was Julius Maxamillian Pallay, my paternal grandfather was Karol Garzsik and my paternal grandmother, Emily Krisko. If anyone knows what the meaning of the names, Pallay or Garzik (Garzsik) mean I would very much appreciate to know. I have found many of our family relatives since I started searching in 1992.
