Researching: MUKA, KUBEK, MRYLAN, PIATKA, DIVORSKY, LUKACS
My grandfather, Stefan Muka, born 2 September 1867, came to the USA from Liskova in March 1892. He landed in NY, worked in Pittston, PA and Binghamton, NY before buying property in Slovaktown, AR. My grandmother, Maria Kubek, born 9 Oct 1874, came to the USA the same year from Kokava. There is no evidence that they knew each other in Slovakia. She stayed in NYC, then met my GF thru a Slovak newspaper. She joined him in AR where they were married in 1895. In 1905 they moved with the first few of their children to Leyden, MA where they remained. Both grandparents said thet their mothers had married twice. In the case of my grandmother's mother, she was widowed twice by age 22. She as born either Zuzanna Mrylan or Zuzanna Piatka with the other name a marriage. Her husband, my ggf was Jan Kubek. I believe his family was from Porubka. In the case of my GF, his father was George Muka and his mother, Maria Lukacs. Maria might have been the widow of a Divorsky. I'm trying to learn more about the family in Slovakia. I did visit these Slovak towns in 1995.

Researching: SANDOR, FRIDER, LIPSHUNSKY, LENDACKY, MISURACO
I am interested in learning more about my family heritage. My maiden name is Sandor. I am the daughter of Tony and Theresa Sandor from Ashland WI. My father's family lived on a farm in Northern Wisconsin, a farming community called Benoit. Grandma Kate Sandor was born in the Old Country her maiden name being Frider. Grandpa Christ Sandor also was born in the Old Country. I know Grandma's mother was Susan Lipshunsky or something like that. When they came to the US in the early 1900's Grandpa was in PA. but didn't get along with the Italians so he settled in Hibbing MN. where Grandma's family was. Course their marriage was arranged before they even came to America. Kate and Chris had 6 sons, and my Dad Tony ended up marrying an Italian! Theresa Misuraco from Hurley WI. I was just to a funeral for one of my Dad's second cousins yesterday up in Hibbing Mn. William C. Sandor and we got talking with some of the relatives. It is really interesting as one of my dad's distant cousins, Jack Lendacky went to Slovakia recently and found graves of Sandor relatives like my Dad's Great-great grandfather. Supposed to be close to the German border. If anyone knows how I should proceed please let me know.Thank you.
