Researching: KMENT
I am the son of Joseph Stephen Kment. He died in Vancouver, Washington in l966. He came to the U.S. in about l907 and the only information I have is that his family came by ship and was processed through U.S. Immigration at Ellis Island, New York. To my knowledge he never kept correspondence with his relatives in Europe. He did mention that he came from Austrian-Hungary at the age of about 7 years old. I do not know the names of his parents. I am just guessing his first name. His records throughout his life in the U.S. showed him to be Joseph Stephen but I think it was Americanized from Josef Stefan. Even if you have no knowledge of this person, perhaps you might know of other Kment families immigrating to the U.S. Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I live on Guam, a small Island belonging to the U.S. but it is located about 2,000 km from Japan. I am 51 years old. I have 5 brothers and 2 sisters ranging in age from 46 to 71. I hope to hear from someone.

Researching: STOFFA
Please Help! Our family tree has not been well-documented. The family name is Stoffa. We know that our grandfather, John Stoffa, was born in Czechoslovakia (est. 1900) and immigrated to the United States as a young adult. Moving first to Eastern Iowa and then to Pennsylvania. From there we know the history. However, we would like to trace backward through his parents roots. Their names were George Stoffa and Annie (Sofi) Stoffa. There has been speculation that the borders of Czechoslovakia changed around the time that John Stoffa moved to the States; we think perhaps that the area he came from is now part of Austria. Any information would be very much appreciated.
