Researching: DONCH, DONC, FELBARY, FELBAROVA
I am searching for information on my paternal grandfather's family. His name was Matthew Joseph (Donc'). He came first to Pennsylvania to work in the mines and may have been accompanied by his brothers. Later he moved to Stamford, CT and started a grocery/butcher shop at the site of what is now Pitney Bowes. He came from the Slovakian town of Jaklovce. (Some twenty years ago I briefly corresponded with a relative named Anna Thurova, who had a daughter, Anna Saxova. I don't know how they were related to my grandfather.) I am also interested in any information on the Felbary family of Hertnic. My grandmother, Marja Felbarova was the daughter of Jiri Felbary, who supposedly sold butter and eggs in the town. She came to America around the turn of the century to marry my grandfather and had four children: Joseph, Mary, Matthew and George, all born in Stamford, CT. Would love to hear from any other Donches.
