Researching: VOJTKO, PAULIN, PAULINOVA, BEHRO
My father came from Bela pre Martin. His father was Jan and his mother Anna Paulinova. He was born in Canada and his family returned to Slovakia in the early 30s. I am looking for anyone related to either the Vojtko's or Paulin's (my spelling of my grandmother's name is probably incorrect). My maternal grandfather came from the Puchov area. His father was Stephan, mother was Anna (Behro). My grandfather's grandfather was mayor of Puchov for 18 years. My grandfather and his family came to Canada, settling in the Alvinston, Inwood area of Ontario, in 1937. My grandfather's sister, Katherina, remained in Slovakia. I would be interested in finding if there are any relatives remaining in Slovakia from my maternal grandfather's family. I am helping him to compile a history of our family as well as a family tree. Also, it would be interesting to get any information on the Vojtko (my paternal) side of the family. Of my father's family, he was the only that returned to Canada; his sisters remained. Anyone that can possibly provide any information at all, we would be most deeply grateful. Even if you don't have any information, please feel free to reply. My Slovak is not so good, but I try! Dakujem.

Researching: PRUSSACK, DEUTCHMAN, DARTIC
I would like to have two names searched. My married name is Prussack, and my husband believes it is Polish / Slovak. My maiden name is Deutchman, but it was changed from Dartic. I am not sure if that is the correct spelling, but I believe my grandfather changed it when he lived in Russia and wanted to leave during World War II. He changed it to sound German because he was Jewish and obviously needed to conceal that fact. I don't really have any more information than that. Thanks.

Researching: HLUBB, JANITOR, PAPUGA
I'd appreciate any information about the ethnic origins and meanings of the Hlubb, Janitor, and Papuga surnames. My grandparents both came from what is now Slovakia (formerly Hungary.) My grandmother, whose maiden name was Maria Janitor, came from a small village called Kisida in the vicinity of Kosice (called Kassa during Hungarian rule.) The village of Kisida was renamed Malaida or Mala Ida when the area became part of Slovakia. My great grandmother's maiden name was Hlubb (approximate spelling) My grandfather, Gyorgy Papuga came from a village that sounded something like Hanishka or Enyishka. There are Poles with the name Papuga, but my family considered themselves Hungarian, speaking both Slovak and Hungarian, but no Polish. Any suggestions about these names? Replies are much appreciated.

I am searching for my relatives from Slovakia with the names Kacmar, Bednar and Varga, in particular, Kacmar. My great grandfather, John Kacmar came from somewhere in Slovakia but I am not sure of the town yet. I hope to get that information when I get his certificate of death. He married my g. grandmother, Elizabeth Bednar born 18 April 1881. She had, as far as I can see so far, Three sisters, Margita, 1881, Ilona 1894 and Suzanna. She also had a brother Andras born 10 September 1878 and died 24 September 1878. Her parents were Andras Bednar (age 40 at marr.) and Maria Varga (age 20 at marr.). All are from Harhaj. It has been said that John Kacmar was an orphan. I don't know his parents names and found liitle else information except that he came to Dunmore, Pennsylvania in early the 1910's. Any information?
