Researching: CEKA, CSIBA, CJYBA, TCHIBA, CHIBA
Looking for relations for expanding the existing family tree currently
holding 967 names. The current search concentrates on the Nitra (Nyitra)
and Kosice (Kassa) regions. Would be most grateful for any information,
as most data on hand come from western Slovakia viz Samorin (Somorja),
Mliecno (Tejfalu) and Dunajska Streda (Duna-szerda-hely). Our family
settled around 1100 AD by a Moravian soldier named Ceka in Fel-Abony
(later destroyed then Nagy-Abony came into existence). Any info.
concerning that branch will be equally appreciated.
Also desperately searching all five continents for expatriate members of
the family. Many of members of the family use various spelling of the
name, mainly Csiba but also such as Chyba, Tchiba, Chiba (watch out for
the Japanese with the last one, it's a minefield!). We live in
Melbourne, Australia.
Communication in English or Hungarian please as my Slovak is very
fractured.

Researching: BURAK, VELOSIN, WELOSIN
My grandfather came through Ellis Island on 4 December 1912. His name was
Lasslo Burak (He went by Charles in America). He travelled through the port
of Hamburg, Germany on the Kaiserin Auguste Victoria on 21 November 1912.
His village in Slovakia was Strabicova and he was born on 13 September
1893. His wife Helen Velosin (Welosin?) travelled to America under her
sister's name of Barbara. She arrived at Ellis Island around the close of WWI
(my best guess is 1915-1919). She also departed from the port of Hamburg,
Germany. I believe her village of origin was either Chibowitz, Ukraine (my
source is not sure) or Csopuvc, Slovakia. She was born on 28 February
1905. I am in search of surviving relatives. As far as I know, my
grandparents were the only family members to immigrate to America. If you can
forward any pertinent information, I would be greatly indebted.

Researching: KEBLOVSZKI, KEBLOVSZKY, KEBLOVSZKIJ, OBEL, KEBLOV
My wife's great-grandfathers name was Joannes Keblovski and in the
family-tradition he came from Hungary. I have researched, that he was born
1857 in the village Keblov near Dlehpole in today's Slovakia and settled in
Aarhus in Denmark about 1880, where he married a Danish girl, Maren Obel.
I am interested in all information of people with the names Keblovszki, Keblovszky, Kenlocszkij- all names starting with Keblov...!
Three sons of Joannes left Denmark and immigrated to USA. It was Josef
Heinrich Keblovski born 1887 and he died in Pueblo, Colorado in 1958.
The other was George Stanislav Ansgar Keblovszki born 1899 and the third
was Clemens Innatius Keblovszki born 1902. I know just nothing about this
part of the family in United States and will be very glad if some of you
could help us to make connections to these parts of the Keblovszki family.

Her name was Mary Hurta and came from Trnava early in the 1900's.
Additional information is requested about my maternal grandparents. My
grandfather's surname was Baysura. His wife's maiden name was
Anglosized upon entry to America. She was listed as Santa, but I am
told that it was pronounced Shunta. Apparently they both came from the
same area, thought to be Austria-Hungary. My mother was 4 years old
when her mother died and she was 9 years old when her father died. So
she doesn't have a lot of information about them other then she was

Researching: PETRUSHUN, PETRYSHYN
Hi! My grandfather's last name is Petrushun, but claims it had been changed
from Petryshyn, the actual spelling. The name is Ukranian, and I was
wondering if I have relatives that we are not aware of, either here or in
Europe. Part of the family tree is a mystery; when my great-grandmother told
her husband she was pregnant (with my grandfather), he jumped out the
first-floor window and was never heard from or seen again. My
great-grandmother retained the last name for seven years, the time which it
took to declare her husband legally dead. So the name has been passed on,
although the history of the family has not. So I have been curious as to
what happened to that man who jumped out the window, my great-grandfather.
Did he have kids with someone else, producing current relatives? I doubt he
is alive now; my grandmother was 97 when she died two years ago. Or are
there relatives of mine in Europe? Thank you.
