Obituary of Mary Kolesar

Mrs. John Stanislav, aged 75, mother of Stephen Stanislav, Mrs. Thomas Maletic, and Mrs. Stephen Lubanovic of Youngstown, died of heart trouble at her home in Uniontown, PA, at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday. She had been ill for three years.

Born February 8, 1866, Mrs. Stanislaw had resided in Uniontown since 1891. Her husband and a daughter, Mrs. Frank Markusic of Youngstown, died some time ago

Mrs. Stanislaw leaves her son, Stephen of Youngstown; four daughters, Mrs. Maletic and Mrs. Lubonovic, both of Youngstown, and Mrs. William Beckwith and Ann, both of Uniontown; two brothers, George Kolesar of Uniontown, and Daniel Kolesar of Wilpen, Pa.; a sister, Mrs. Anna Paranich of Jessup, Pa., 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held in Saint John's Greek Catholic Church in Uniontown at 2:00 p.m. Friday.

    2. Stephen J. Stanislav, son of John Stanislav ( 1 ) and Mary Kolesar, was born Monday 03 August 1891 in Brownsville, Pennsylvania. He died Friday 09 January 1959 in Youngstown, Ohio. He was 67 years old at his death. He was married to Anna Nadrash, born circa 1893. Anna Nadrash died year unknown.

    Obituary of Stephen Stanislaw

    Stephen J. Stanislav, 67, of 547 West LaClede Ave., active in veteran's groups and a General Fireproofing Co. foreman, died of cancer at 2:20 a.m. Friday at his residence. He had been ill several months.

    Mr. Stanislav was born August 3, 1891 in Brownfield, Pa., a son of John and Mary Kolesar Stanislav. He came here in 1922 from Uniontown, Pa.

    He was a foreman in the desk division at General Fireproofing where he worked for 36 years. He was a charter member and past commander of Post 472, American Legion, a delegate to the national American Legion conventions, commander of Post 94, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and chef de gare of Voiture No. 601, 40, and 8.

    Mr. Stanislav was a member of Saint Mary Byzantine Rite Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie No. 213, Mahoning Valley Industrial Management Association, Past Commanders Association of the American Legion and Fayette County Volunteer Fireman's Association. He also has been a lieutenant in the highway patrol auxiliary.

    He leaves his wife, the former Anna Nadrash and four sisters, Mrs. William Beckwith of Uniontown, Miss Ann Stanislav of Warren, and Mrs. Stephen Lubanovic and Mrs. Thomas Maletich of Youngstown. The body is at the Davis-Velker Funeral Home.

    Anna was born in Pennsylvania and in 1920 she was living with her mother-in-law, Mary, at 7 Whiteman Avenue, Uniontown, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.

    3. Mary L. Stanislav, daughter of John Stanislav ( 1 ) and Mary Kolesar, was born circa 1892 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. She died 1934. She was married to Frank F. Markusic Sr. Frank F. Markusic Sr. died year unknown.

  • 4. Yusten Stanislav, daughter of John Stanislav ( 1 ) and Mary Kolesar, was born circa 1896 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. She died Wednesday 12 August 1970 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. She was married year unknown to Michael Molcan. Michael Molcan died 1926.

    She was married second year to William R. Beckwith. William R. Beckwith died 1958.

    Obituary of Yusten Beckwith

    Beckwith, Yusten (Stanislaw) - Age 84 years of 820 Fayette Bank Building, died Wednesday, August 12, 1970. in the Laurel Rest Home. She was predeceased by her husband, William R. Beckwith, in 1958. Surviving are two sisters, Anna Stanislaw of Warren, Ohio; Mrs. Stephen Lubanovic of Youngstown, Ohio; five nephews and nine nieces.

    She was a member of St. John the Baptist G.C. Church and the American Legion Post 51. She was formerly a bookkeeper for the F.C. Frick Co., the Mitchell-Long Inc., and the Fayette County Treasurer's Office. Together with Mr. Beckwith they founded and published the Klondike Bulletin in Masontown from 1935 to 1965.

    She was predeceased by her first husband, Michael Molcan, in 1926; a brother Stephen in 1959 and two sisters, Mary Markusic in 1934 and Kathryn Maletich in 1962.

    Friends will be received at the Haky Funeral Home, 139 W. Fayette St., today from 7 to 9 and Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 where prayer services will be held 8:30 a.m. Saturday followed by Requiem High Mass at St. John's Greek Catholic Church at 9 with Father Sebastian Sabol O.S.B.M. as celebrant. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Parastas will be held Friday at 7 p.m.

    5. Ann Stanislav, daughter of John Stanislav ( 1 ) and Mary Kolesar, was born circa 1898 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. She died in Niles, Trumbull County, Ohio.

She died Wednesday 02 December 1992 in Youngstown, Mahoning Co., Ohio. She was 93 years old at her death. She was married Tuesday 08 February 1921 to Stephen P. Lubanovic. Stephen P. Lubanovic died Tuesday 22 November 1960.

    Stephen was a policeman in Youngstown, Ohio. They lived on East Judson Avenue in Youngstown, Ohio.

    Mrs. Julia M. Lubanovic, 93, of 35 Poland Manor, formerly of West Judson Avenue, Youngstown, died of pneumonia this morning in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center.

    Mrs. Lubanovic was born Jan. 8, 1899, in Uniontown, Pa., a daughter of John and Mary Kolesar Stanislav, and came to Youngstown in 1917. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church, was a charter member of VFW Post 1423 Auxiliary, Youngstown Police Auxiliary and World War I Widows.

    Her husband, Stephen P., whom she married Feb. 8, 1921, died Nov. 22, 1960.

    She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Donna J. Bannon and Mrs. Mary Lou Prochak, both of Poland; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

    A brother, Steve Stanislaw, and four sisters, Ms. Ann Stanislaw, Mrs. Yusten Beckwith, Mrs. Katherine Malatich and Mrs, Mary Markusic are all deceased.

    Services will be at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. in the church. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where a prayer service will be at 2 p.m.

    8. Eugene V. Markusic, son of Mary L. Stanislav ( 3 ) and Frank F. Markusic Sr., was born Wednesday 15 May 1929 in Youngstown, Mahoning Co., Ohio. He died Wednesday 04 March 1992 in Youngstown, Mahoning Co., Ohio. He was 62 years old at his death. He was married Saturday 28 November 1953 to Frieda E. Baker.

    Canfield - Eugene V. Markusic, 62, of 3420 Almerinda Drive, died of complications in St. Elizabeth Medical Center Wednesday evening following surgery.

    Mr. Markusic was born May 15, 1929, in Youngstown, a son of Frank F. Sr. and Mary L. Stanislaw Markusic. He held numerous positions for Century Foods, Loblaws and Queens Food Stores before retiring in 1977. He was a member of Eagles lodges 3298 and 213, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9947, and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

    Besides his wife, the former Frieda E. Baker, whom he married Nov. 28, 1953, he leaves a daughter, Mrs. Pamela Bonhoff of Williamsburg, Va.; a brother, Charles W. of Canton; a sister, Mrs. Joan Hebert of Cockeyesville, Md.; and a grandson.

    Three brothers, John P., Frank F., and Edward L., and two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Canavan and Mrs. Margaret Laubin, are deceased.

    Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Dominic Church. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Thompson Funeral Home.

    Obituary of Frank F. Markusic Jr. from the Youngstown Vindicator

    Frank F. Markusic Jr., 49, widely known athlete, was pronounced dead at 1:10 a.m. today in South Side Hospital following a heart attack at his home, 227 Marmion Ave.

    Mr. Markusic bowled Tuesday night and had became ill after he returned home.

    He was born June 22, 1916, in Youngstown, a son of Frank F. and Mary L. Markusic. Since 1934 he worked as a repairman for General Fireproofing Co. In the 1930's he played semi-professional football here with the Spot A.C. and Grand-Als. He also played on General Fireproofing's softball team the two years they won the state championship.

    He was a member of bowling and golf leagues and the Cardinal Mooney High School Booster Club.

    His first wife, the former Wilma Eich, whom he married June 22, 1940, died July 27, 1962.

    He leaves his wife, the former Ann Ritter, whom he married January 8; a son Keith Fred, and a daughter, Mrs. Donald Blasco of Youngstown; four brothers, John of Campbell, Charles of Florida, and Edward and Eugene of Youngstown; three sisters, Mrs. Adam Lauban of Pascagoula, Miss., Mrs. George Canavan, and Mrs. John Hebert of Maryland.

    Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday in the Thompson Funeral Home where friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
