Red Cross Tuberculosis Christmas Seals of Czechoslovakia

1926-1951

Czechoslovakia was a union between the Czech republic and Slovakia which ended with the Velvet Revolution in 1992.

Prior to the Communist takeover after World War II, Czechoslovakia issued Christmas Tuberculosis seals.

You may have found one on an old letter up in the attic.

There are some very hard to find Christmas Seals in the first series of seals below. Issued between 1937 through 1951, this is close to a complete set for you to see, just missing the 1940 stamp.

One series of seals were issued for Czech lands and another for Slovak lands.

The first set below was for Czech lands.

On the seals you find "Liga Proti Tuberkulose" or "Masarykova Liga Proti Tuberkulose".

The enormous hospital the Masaryk League built in the Tatras is still one of the best in Slovakia. See a photo of the hospital below.

A rather amazing selection of Christmas Seals from around the world is available at the Christmas-Seals Shop.

There are more very hard to find Czechoslovakian Christmas Tuberculosis seals in the next series of Christmas Seals below. Issued between 1926 through 1949, this is a complete set for you to see.

The series of seals below were issued for Slovak lands.

On the seals you find "Liga Proti Tuberkulose Na Slovensku" or "Masarykova Liga Proti Tuberkulose Na Slovensku".

In 1920 the Masaryk League against Tuberculosis rented property in Zelezno, Czechoslovakia for a Children's Sanatorium. This Children’s Sanatorium was taken under the direction of the Minister of Health of Slovakia in 1992.

The Masaryk League built a very large hospital in the High Tatras (Vysne Hagy).

The construction was finished when Slovakia was a separate country during WW II.

The enormous hospital the Masaryk League built in the High Tatras is still one of the best in Slovakia.

You can see a recent photo of the hospital above. A special thanks to Martin Votruba for providing the photo.
