Eastern Orthodox and Catholic Icon of Mary and Jesus Ornament
A beautiful Eastern Christian keepsake ornament that makes a great
gift that can become a future heirloom.
The original icon painting was done by David Andrzejak.
Mary is referred to by the Eastern Orthodox Church, Oriental Orthodoxy and all
Eastern Rites of the Catholic Church as Theotokos, a title recognized at the Third Ecumenical
Council held at Ephesus in 431 to address the teachings of Nestorius.
Theotokos and its Latin equivalents, "Deipara" and "Dei genetrix" literally means
"Godbearer".
In the tradition of the Eastern Rites of the Christian Church, Mary is robed in red.
This handmade flat ball shaped ornament measures 2 7/8 inches across. Made of high quality porcelain in a classic holiday shape. Red ribbon included.
